There is hot and cool air conditioning throughout the property as well as ceiling fans in the bedroom. The patio doors in the bedroom can tilt as well as open. There are fly nets on all the windows and doors so that the windows can be left open for ventilation and comfort.
It is surrounded by orange groves ; the beautiful village Church, and the village stream flowing through a wooded park. Daisy has a very private setting in an unspoilt area with lovely mountain views. . It is located in a traffic free environment, yet only 60 metres from the village square where you can park your car. The Crete region
Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands and can be found in the most southerly point of Europe. As a result it enjoys a very warm climate with hot summers and mild winters. It is much greener than other Mediterranean areas making it more attractive and welcoming.
Crete is also steeped in History and you can visit the archeological sites at places like Knossus, Phaistos and Gortys. If you have a car, it is well worth taking time to visit the mountains particularly the Samaria Gorge. You will need decent walking shoes and a spare driver for subsequent pick up should you walk the gorge.
We have also included a photo of the former leper colony on the island of Spinalonga, so beautifully portrayed in the book by Victoria Hislop. It is certainly worth a visit and her book "The Island" is in our library.
There are also man-made attractions including a Water Park and a fine golf course within a 30 minute drive.
Our Service Managers will gladly take the time to help you find your way on any excursions you might choose to take. Fodele is centrally placed on this lovely island, so you can reach any area with relative ease. The Rough Guide to Crete is in our library. There are so many places of interest that many of our guests come back year on year ( please see our guest book )
Heraklion/Iraklion / Fodele area
Heraklion is the capital of Crete and is within easy reach. The city fully deserves its reputation as one of the Mediterranean's most attractive capitals. Please look away now if your wallet does not wish to know that it is a haven for lovers of fashion, furnishings and night life. You can even link up with one of the many cruise ships like Ocean Village that stop at Heraklion.
The area offers a rich variety of unspolt coastlines and mountain scenery as well as the opportunity to sample the busy resorts that are also within easy reach. There is plenty to offer families including those with grown up children !
For those of us who prefer a more active holiday there is a PGA golf course 35km from Fodele , boat trips from our local beach , two Waterparks and many great beaches. There are many watersports options at the nearby Fodele Beach
The local Fodele beach (see our photo) is one of the most beautiful in the area and has proved to be very popular with guests at Mandarin Grove..It offers a variety of watersports or you can chill out on the free deck chairs There are numerous tavernas lining the waterfront offering great views of this lovely cove..
There are busier resorts within easy reach such as Agia Pelagia, Lygaria and Bali. Some say a visit is not complete without a visit to George's Restaurant at Cri Cri in Agia Pelagia . Of course Heraklion itself is only 25 minutes away with its shops and night life
Mandarin Grove is situated in the heart of a truly Cretan village. It is not a busy tourist centre but a genuine working Greek village and the perfect place to unwind. It is open all the year round.
You can reach 9 Tavernas within a radius of a few hundred metres. The local people are so hospitable and they will want you to share the local produce including wine, Raki and an assortment of home grown vegetables It is crime-free so you can feel very safe there. There are many lovely walks around the village, including a nature trail and visits to local churches and the El Greco Museum . As the birthplace of El Greco, Fodele has a special ambience and the village is very proud of its association with the famous painter.

Guestbook for DAISY
Lovely! House, views, location, local tavernas and shops....brilliant. We have been to Daisy twice and have booked to go again in May, 2007. September too if we can!! Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Higson .
Had a lovely stay at Daisy. The accommodation was perfect , plenty of space , very clean and all furnished to a high standard. We were very lazy and spent lots of time at the pool. We enjoyed being able to wander into Fodele and try out the Tavernas. It was lovely to be in an authentic setting rather than a tourist centre Mr. and Mrs. Cooper
We had a memorable holiday. The accommodation is lovely and the village is special and peaceful , we can see why you fell in love with the place. We especially enjoyed the freedom to use the pool whenever we wished , day or night. The Service Managers were always on hand for advice ps.We came back for a second visit and enjoyed it just as much ! Mike and Denise Sheldrake
We had a wonderful holiday this year. We loved Fodele and our stay in Daisy. We have always made it a rule not to revisit a place twice but we are making Daisy an exception to this rule. I wouln't want to change Daisy in any way - she was perfect for us. I am in a bit of a quandary actually. I don't want to keep telling too many people about what a lovely time we had in Daisy, as I am trying to keep it a secret all to myself ! Jean and Bob ( Sorry Jean I have just blown that one...........Peter)
After 4 weeks in Daisy , we can be regarded as experts on Mandarin grove and Fodele village . Daisy is perfect for short stay or long term holidays . It is right on the edge of a picture postacard village complete with orange, lemon and walnut groves and a tree shaded river. Good food in the tavernas and very friendly people . Daisy has evertything you need for an enjoyable stay , being backed up by Helen and Ken , the managers next door , who cater for your (nearly) every whim!! A holiday we will remember for a long time Alan and Di
We had an absolutely lovely time in Daisy. This was the first holiday where I didn't cook one meal as the Tavernas were so good especially Domenicos.........George's ice cream is the best in the world, even better than Italian. Your house is lovely and the village was everything we were hoping for. Helen and Ken , the service managers, were very hospitable and always available with advice and suggestions. We enjoyed Daisy so much that we are going back in October. Thank you so much for letting us use Daisy. You are so lucky to be part of such a lovely community. Jenny and Gerry June 2008
