Beautiful family home, in a designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, set in an acre of beautiful garden, surrounded by 22 acres of its own pasture and woodland. Quiet, private, secure and an ideal getaway for groups of friends, families and corporate guests. The views are stunning, there is a huge hot tub on the garden terrace, a 14 seat dedicated cinema room with full Sky and Apple TV, two kitchens, one with Aga. Breakfast room, study, large TV room, formal sitting room and dining room with antique furniture. Glorious oak framing and floor to ceiling windows. Barbecue terrace, lawn for croquet, natural pond with stream. This is the countryside, but only 10 minutes from Reading station, 15 minutes from Henley on Thames, and 25 minutes by non stop train from London.

This is a luxury house, much loved by the guests who stay here. In addition to the 13 guests there are two cots for babies and a dog is permitted if you ask us and agree to the pet rules.

This is not a venue, so while guests are welcome to invite friends for a dinner, there cannot be more than 20 guests at the house, so we are not suitable for wedding receptions for example. Our music system extends outdoors and is by Sonos, so we expect guests to enjoy themselves and do all we can to help with celebrations, including providing details of caterers.

The Central England/Cotswolds region

This is the countryside. We are just into Oxfordshire and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are walks and wildlife, woods and wildflowers everywhere you look. It is a wonderful area when you consider it is ten minutes from the bustle of Reading and 25 minutes from the centre of Oxford. It is a haven to relax and enjoy the company of good friends, do nothing, read and when you are ready explore the local area, walk to the pub for lunch, explore the little shops and the riverside at Henley on Thames and then home for an evening in the fabulous cinema room.

The house is popular all year round and the garden is an amazing feature. Autumn colours, daffodils in spring, honeysuckle and wisteria in summer and in winter a cosy log fire. The Henley Festival and Regatta are well known, as is Ascot and Newbury Racecourse and the cities of Oxford and Bath. Stonehenge is not far and London is within easy reach. There is golf and horse riding nearby and books, films, music and more to entertain you at home.

Henley-on-Thames

Kidmore End is a typical English village with a pub and a few stores, a fish and chip shop which is highly recommended and an Indian restaurant. There is a small late opening store and a large supermarket five minutes away that also delivers to the house. Taxis are easy to come by. Above all Mill Lane is a quiet and peaceful country road with almost no traffic as it serves a dozen or so houses only and is not suitable for heavy vehicles being single track. The property is securely fenced so dogs and humans cannot arrive in your garden unexpectedly, but you are surrounded by deer and muntjac, red kites, heron, ducks and we keep a small herd of horses in the nearby fields.

"A perfect setting for the perfect birthday weekend!"

We wanted a property that would sleep 12 adults and my young niece and nephew to celebrate my 40th - this was absolutely perfect. The owners were incredibly helpful, and incredibly patient when I was … More

"Britain at its best!"

This place is outstanding! In the middle of the beautiful countryside but we went to Bath, Oxford, London and Stonehenge and those were really easy trips. The house has everything including 2 kitchens… More

Thank you so much. We very much enjoyed having you to stay and helping plan your trips before you arrived. Over the years we have built up much local knowledge which we are always happy to share, just ask us and we can do the research. We also have caterers we can recommend and there is much to see and do locally, particularly in the famous Henley on Thames, for those who are not on an extended break. Come again soon!

"Beautiful house - every single room was perfect, fantastic for big group of friends"

I was part of a group of 12 (6 couples) who wanted to get away for a weekend outside of London. We found The Copse by chance - and are so glad we did! We had a fantastic time, so much so that within a… More

What a super review! Thank you so much. It really means such a lot to hear that guests have enjoyed their stay and to take the trouble to write once the holiday is over and the business of life starts again, is very special. Hugely appreciated.

"English elegance"

An exquisite place for our catch-up weekend, we were so comfortable. We were lucky with the weather so didn't use the amazing cinema room, but did get the best from the hot tub and hammock!

The house is so elegant, and kitted out with everything you could need (all kitchen utensils, lovely bedding, plenty of seating, even board games). My bed was extremely comfortable and I can't fault the bathrooms. The garden is full of native plants and therefore humming with bees and gorgeous butterflies.

Such a special, relaxing place, highly recommended.

Thank you so much. This is a wonderful review and we are delighted you enjoyed your time at The Copse. I think you are unique in not using the cinema room, which seems to be a huge success with guests of all ages, but we have had the most glorious weather this summer and outdoors has definitely been the place to be.

"The perfect English summer house party"

Our one-night weekend at The Copse was an exceptionally happy and
comfortable gathering of friends. The house is beautiful, spacious and very well-equipped. The standard of accommodation in every bedroom and bathroom is excellent. The garden is lovely. Very peaceful - I can't remember hearing a single car pass down the lane all the time we stayed.

thank you so much for your review, which is very much appreciated. I do agree it is wonderful to escape from the city to this oasis in the countryside and yet be so close to everything.

"Fabulous"

The Copse was a fabulous place for our group to stay. We had a number of men who were rowing at the Henley Masters Regatta. We were able to drive easily to racecourse. The pub near the house was terrific. The weather was spectacular. Beautiful accommodation. Great theater that seats a dozen. We would come back. We loved it.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back in future years to defend your Masters Regatta title! You will always be most welcome.
