The Longhouse in Boscrege is a secluded rural retreat within a stones throw of West Cornwall's finest beaches and hidden coves. Located on the fringes of the National Trust's Godolphin Estate, the tranquil setting and extensive private grounds lend itself equally to a relaxing short break as easily as extended holidays.
The Longhouse is a newly converted 16th century Cornish barn only completed in May 2013.
Although a mere eight miles from Penzance and six miles from Helston you could be forgiven for thinking you are a hundred miles from modern day life. With countless short and long walks on your doorstep, offering the most stunning views of "forgotten Cornwall" it's up to you how far you venture. Uniquely located between the ruggedness of the North Cornish coast with the miles of golden sands of St Ives Bay and the more tranquil South Coast with quieter beaches and hidden coves. Both the Lizard and Lands End peninsulas are as equally accessible.

The Longhouse is one of two holiday rental properties at Boscrege Villa, both detached from one another although at the same time providing the perfect opportunity for two families to holiday at the same time whilst keeping living/outdoor space private and separate. Being a small hamlet of just nine properties Boscrege has its own unique pace of life. The tractor from the neighbouring farm is likely to be the only modern sound you will occasionally hear, for the most part it will be the songbirds populating the gardens or the birds of prey circling overhead and an owl or two in the evenings. You may also catch a sighting of the foxes and the rare species of bats are ever present.
The Longhouse is a characterful detached converted barn which has been sympathetically modernised for practicality, whilst retaining a wealth of original features. The property sleeps up to 4 people and a baby, with one large double bedroom, and a sofa bed in the spacious lounge to sleep 2 comfortably. Ample heating supplied by modern night storage heating and a traditional wood burner for those ambient evenings in. A stylish wet room, Wifi, iPod dock, digital TV, dishwasher, microwave etc. all the mod cons for a comfortable year round holiday destination.
At any time during your stay savour the organic flavour of Katie eating apples straight from the branch and Bramley cookers if you fancy a crumble or pie (served with Cornish clotted cream is a must)!

It is the type of place that will provide the opportunity to be awe-struck by the sublime beauty of any given cove, cliff walk, beach or country walk one day, to re-visit the very next to behold the same spot in a wild, soul-inspiring show of nature's fury. There is something quite unique and romantic about seeing a historic mine working, clinging to a cliff edge, whilst being battered by the tempest of the North Atlantic.
The hamlet of Boscrege is located in the heart of West Cornwall and is uniquely located to offer visitors not only the stunning coastline, with its hidden coves and white sandy beaches, but also the rural Cornwall that time forgot. Situated in a world heritage site the past is ever present from the archetypal mine workings to the prehistoric settlements and landmarks that abound in this Celtic land. Country walks, on the doorstep, offer the most stunning views of untouched West Cornwall, whilst at the same time, avoiding the main tourist tracks.
Both the North (St. Ives Bay) and South (Mounts bay) coasts are easily accessible enabling the watersports enthusiast to find a variety of conditions that suit on any given day. The mile long, sandy beach of Praa Sands and Hendra is but five minutes away. World class surf and windsurfing spots abound as well as having great dive spots and sailing venues to hand.
Boscrege is the tranquil setting to allow exploration of both the Lizard and Land's end penisulas alike.

Excellent accommodation well equipped and very helpful resident owner. The rentals and gardens are lovely with lots of lovely walks around. There are plenty of dog friendly eating places around so it was very easy going. I recommend a day at Givenor tin mine really interesting.

"Fantastic relaxing break"
The Long House ticks all the boxes - great accommodation, excellent facilities in a good location with really friendly owners. We were made to feel welcome but had our own space to enjoy our break.
We have a 2 yr old Labrador who loved it too, there is a large enclosed garden and plenty of space in the property for her to play.
We would def. recommend a visit - we hope to return very soon

"A jewel in West Cornwall"
Arriving at The Longhouse for a two week stay with my husband and two small terriers, we received a very warm welcome from owners Sarah and Matt. Sarah showed us around the property which consisted of a slick, modern, well equipped kitchen, a spacious living/dinning room, a lovely light and airy bedroom and a really great wet-room, which included toilet, basin and the best shower ever! The property was scrupulously clean, very comfortable and tastefully furnished, with plenty of storage space. We had our own large private garden, which had a very fine apple tree, absolutely laden with the most delicious red apples, which we took full advantage of! Also lovely sunny sitting areas, with tables and chairs and a detached utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer for guests use. Towels and bed lining were provided and a tray with tea, coffee and also breakfast items for the following morning, which really was very thoughtful and most welcome.
The location of the Longhouse is second to none, it is in a relaxing, peaceful situation and is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful beaches and visiting the many interesting places in West Cornwall. There are beautiful walks right on the doorstep and good restaurants nearby in the lovely fishing village of Porthleven, serving fresh local produce and also some marvellous fish and chip shops too. We had a truly wonderful time at the Longhouse and really did not want to leave. Sarah went to great lengths to ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and that, along with her genuine and warm personality made our holiday one of the very best we've ever had. We're looking forward to returning in the not too distant future.

"A Cornish delight."
A warm welcome awaited our arrival at The Longhouse. It's tastefully decorated and very comfortable, all needs taken care of. There is ample room for a couple with an extensive garden in a peaceful surroundings. Sarah and Matt, the owners, are a lovely couple, very approachable, going out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We definitely recommend this let, it's accessible to some picturesque beaches and places of interest. We will hopefully return in the not so distant future.

"Excellent, wish we were still there!"
We have just returned from a fantastic week at the longhouse. From the moment we arrived we had a warm welcome from the owners Sarah, Matt, Luis and Rinsey the dog. We were particularly grateful of the welcome back of tea coffee butter and bread after a long journey!The longhouse was absolutely spotless and had a really new feel throughout whilst feeling very homely with decorative touches. There is everything you need in the cottage, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to dine in. The living area is very cosy with a lovely wood burner (we really wanted to use this but thought it might be strange on a hot week like we had!!) The bedroom is fantastic plenty of space for clothes etc and the bathroom lovely, always plenty of hot water. Outside there is a utility which was handy for washing and drying clothes and Sarah kindly said we were welcome to borrow windbreakers, wet suits etc. The garden was large with lovely sunny seating areas. The longhouse was very dog friendly for our labradoodle with a large garden, dog towel and bowls for him.
The location of the longhouse is in a quiet area but in very easy reach of Helston, Porthleven, Falmouth and St Ives and a short drive to a great beach Praa Sands. We found this beach as well as nearby beaches of Gwithian and Kynance Cove to amongst our favourite. Food wise we would recommend the sandbar at Praa Sands and Amelie's at Porthleven for food and the town of Newlyn was great for fresh seafood that we cooked. We heard The Grove is a lovely restaurant nearby but unfortunately was booked up when we wanted to go.
Would 100% recommend The Longhouse!
