The West Country region

This is a wonderful area with fabulous sandy & safe beaches for swimming. It is the most southerly point in mainland England and has an abundance of wild wildflowers and wildlife, including the rare Cornish Chough. It has a remarkably beautiful coastline with many quaint old fishing harbours and tiny sheltered coves.

A visit anytime of the year is recommended as even in the winter months the climate is very mild, which encourages sub tropical plants to flurrish providing a backdrop of colour all year round.

This part of Cornwall is an absolute delight for those who enjoy the outdoors. It is possible to see seals, dolphins and basking sharks in the waters around the Lizard & at Falmouth sightseeing river boat trips are available which stop off for a famous Cornish Cream Tea.

Helston

There are many attractions all within a short drive of Helford -

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth

The Penlee Gallery in Penzance

Tate Gallerry at St. Ives & the Barbara Hepworth Museum

If visiting beautiful gardens is on your wish list then those at Trebah, Trevarno, Glendurgan. Trelissick, Carwinion & Trengwainton are all nearby & worth a visit.

There are some lovely beaches at Kynance Cove, Gunwalloe, Kennack & Mullion which are all a short drive away from Helford. Along with the many river beaches available to you along the footpaths heading out from Helford.
