The Scottish Highlands region

The cottage lies on the edge of one of Europe's last great wildernesses making the region ideal for wild walking and hiking, cycling, and getting away from it all. The region is well known for its views spectacular beaches such as Brora and a number of golf courses to choose from. There is ample fishing across the area both river and sea. Attractions range from the Orkney Isles, John O'Groats and of course the most northerly point in mainland Britain, Duncansby Head with its prolific puffins. Nearby Dunrobin Castle is a must if only for the falconary display to say nothing of the game rooms from a byegone era. To visit Helmsdale and not to partake in La Mirage's "Fish Supper" is to miss the fish and chips opportunity of a lifetime!

At Lower Torrish Cottage you are immersed in the natural environment whilst being only 5 miles from all the local amenities of Helmsdale and remotely secluded but only 300 yds from the road with spectacular views cross the river. Drive the Glen Loth road from the A9 to Kildonan where you are unlikely to meet another vehicle. During rutting listen to the roaring calls of the deer echoing around the glen. Enjoy the environment you are in and travel northwest towards the remote hamlet of Kinbrace beyond which are the expansive views over the flow country.
