About this location
The Cornwall region
Bishops Quay is 1/4 of a mile down a privately owned lane between the villages of Mawgan and St. Martin. It is six miles from Helston. Soft fertile farmland, water and woodlands neighbour the house.
The Village Post Office/Spar Shop in Mawgan sells an array of local vegetables, they are outside the shop all lined up in boxes to tempt you. Most other necessary items can be found there too.
The Trelowarren Estate borders the property, this magnificent old mansion has Craft exhibitions, a Gallery, Gardens and one of the excellent restaurants to be enjoyed locally, The New Yard Restaurant.
Surrounded by the Gulf Stream waters The Lizard usually has a warm and comfortable climate, Spring comes very early here and the Autumn sunshine lingers late into the year.
Locally there are many attractions all within a short drive- The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, The Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, The Penlee Gallery in Penzance, the Tate at St. Ives with the Barbara Hepworth Museum.
However it is the gardens that most guests love, those at Trebah, Trevarno, Glendurgan. Trelissick, Carwinion and Trengwainton are all repeatedly mentioned as successful trips out.
The special beaches of Kynance Cove, Gunwalloe, Kennack and Mullion are all less than 25 minutes drive away.
The galleries in Marazion with the trip out to St. Michaels Mount is popular, we have supplied the house with plenty of local information to help you to choose your destinations. That is, if you can bear to tear yourself away from the house itself!
