The Central Southern England region
Hampshire is a popular area of England, famed as the home of two of our greatest writers, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. With its rolling green hills, famous places, including Winchester, and mix of rural and city areas, this county is one of England's gems. It also has a large maritime history, with two of the UK's largest naval ports on its southern coast in the shape of Southampton, primarily a merchant port, and Portsmouth, a Royal Naval base and channel ferry port.
Hayling Island is only a small island, but it has much to offer to resident or visitor alike.
Hayling's combination of rural and marine environments has left us a legacy of unique natural history and a bio-diversity with walking distances of anywhere on the Island.
Hayling Island also has over 3 miles of beaches right on the doorstep of the Solent as well as the Harbours of Langstone and Chichester. With its safe open spaces, fresh air and sheltered waters, Hayling Island has much to offer those that enjoy sports of all kinds, whether on land or at sea.
5 Things to do with the family
Enjoy all the fun of the fair
Traditional seaside fun for all the family. Roller coaster rides (you can hear the screams as you queue for your trip on the seaside railway and watch the terrified faces as they hurtle past!), cup and saucers ride for the younger ones, and much more. (Visit the Funland website)
Ride the Light Railway
The narrow gage Hayling railway runs along the beach seafront from Eastoke corner to Beachlands. The train departs every 45 minutes, starting at 11am each morning offering a 10 minute ride along the central seafront area of Hayling.
Fish & chips on beach
A visit to the seaside is not complete until you have had fish and chips on the seafront. Grab yourself a bag of chips (plenty of salt and vinegar), a spot with a view and watch out for the seagulls!
Ride the half pipe
Hayling Skate park is right on the seafront, in front of Inn on the Beach and offers a variety of ramps and rails for Skateboards, Skate and BMX riders.
Enjoy the adventure playgrounds
Hayling's free seafront facilities include adventure playgrounds, a volleyball court and (for the grown-ups) a seafront exercise trail.

"Pictures do not do this place justice! Great Apartment!"
We we looking for a holiday home / apartment so we could all 8 of us could enjoy new year together that had good travel connections for everyone.
After much searching we came across this little gem.
First of all let me say this place is HUGE!, there was 8 of us there and we did not feel at all claustrophobic. The bedrooms could easily accommodate double the amount of people with out any trouble. The lounge/ dining room is big enough for everyone and the kitchen (which is the smallest room bar the bathroom ) could cope with 2/3 people cooking no problem.
Overall I cannot fault this place and we hope to stay there again soon.

"GREAT APARTMENT WITH STUNNING VIEWS"
We spent the first 2 months of 2012 in this holiday apartment and enjoyed our stay immensely, it is well furnished with comfortable beds. All mod cons include fridge freezer, wide screen TV, washing … More
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back in 2013.

What can I say, the flat is very well equipped and the area is absolutely first class. The only point was the two single beds. They are not fit for normal adults to sleep on. Basically a sprung mattress on a wooden board, Okay for kids up to about 50 kilos, any more and they are very uncomfortable. We were there for a week with our grown up daughter and her companion. My wife and I slept (I use the term loosely) on the single beds. I have slept in more uncomfortable places, but only because I served Queen and country for nine years and on operations it can be quite rough sometimes!
The organization could do with a shakeup as well. We arrived there from Germany about 18:30 on a Sunday evening looking forward to a nice cup of tea after 750 Kilometer journey only to find we were locked out. I had been informed by email that the keys would be in the letter box and when we arrived they were. The problem was that the letter box (attached to the wall) was fitted with a combination padlock the number of which the firm had failed to send me! Not to worry they had given me the number of a contact if there were any problems so all I had to do was call. Unfortunately the person on the other end failed to answer the calls I made.
We walked the short distance to the sea and contemplated what to do next (in between repeatedly trying the number we had been given) after about ten minutes I spotted a police lady on a bicycle and asked her (without much hope of success) if she might be able to help. Well to cut a very long story short she was absolutely magnificent, she managed to find out who our contact was and where he lived via the telephone number and went to his house and got the number of the padlock (he had been in his garden without his phone so had not heard it). We then had our holiday as planned.
I have waited the best part of a week before writing in the hope that the firm would contact me and perhaps apologies for the inconvenience we suffered but of course they do not feel that there is any need.
I will definitely be traveling back to the beautiful Hayling Island again but I will also definitely be looking for a different firm for my accommodation!
Thank you very much for your review of Solent View. We are very sorry to hear that you did not find the single beds comfortable. These beds have been used by adults in the past for both short and long stays and we have not received any complaints, so this one does come as a bit of a suprise! As for the key collection problem we can only appologise that the combination was not given. We believed that the information had been given verbally to the party but of course this doesn't appear to be the case. We tried to contact the holiday party after their holiday to apologise for the key collection problem but as yet there been no answer. It is such a shame that our representative on Hayling Island was out of mobile phone signal area just at the time when the holiday party arrived! This would then have been totally avoided.
