Home description
Glanhenwye is set in five acres of grounds. Originally a farm, the main house and barns, dating from the early nineteenth cwntury, are situated around a cobbled courtyard. The barns are devided into three sections and can be let individually or as a whole. The ssurrounding area offers beautiful views of fields, the Black mountains and the river Wye with excellent walks and outdoor activities available in the area. There are many excellent restaurants and pubs nearby and the quaint market town of hay has bookstores, boutiques, art and antique shops amongst the village stores. The outbuildings atGlanhenwye were recently converted from the original barns and stables to a modern complex still retaining it's authentic feel and features. The interiors are stylish, spacious and designed to spend memorable times in, whatever the weather.

The Wye valley offers many outdoor activities, good restaurants and pubs and historic places to visit. There is plenty to nearby and we are well situated for day trips to the coast, Cardiff and the mountains.
Hay-On-Wye / Glasbury area
Glasbury is small rural village at the foot of the Black Mountains, there are two good pubs and one great restaurant, a village shop and postoffice. The Wye Valley Walk footpath comes by the property, there is an outdoor pursuits centre and a canoe rental. In summer the pebble beach is great for swimming and picknicks. Hay offers many boutiques, book shops, pubs and restaurants, bicycle rental, supermarket, delli and general shops. Hay is famous for it's second hand book shops and literary festivals (late May and Early December). There is a relaxed atmosphere throuout the area, with plenty to do and plenty of places to do nothing but take in the beautiful sites of the Wye valley.
How to get there
EasyJet flies to and from Bristol, our nearest airport. From there it is about a one and a half drive to Glanhenwye. For direction please visit our website on the link provided or use our postcode HR35NJ on any route finder (AA route finder or RAC) From Heathrow airport we are about 2.5 hours drive. Europecar has been reliable and have branches at both airports. having a car available is recommended, all local atractions are easy to get to but usually involve a short drive.

Further details indoors: The interiors are laid out for for sociable holidays or events. They are open plan, light and also provide privacy when preferred. There are no telephones, and no Sky t.v. but internet access can be provided in the main house if required. There are log burners and open fires in addition to central and underfloor heating. There are plenty of windows to let in a cool breeze int he summer and the meter thick stone walls keep a nice even temperature through the year.
Further details outdoors: The gardens are large with several terraces, lawned areas and plenty of trees. There is lots of room for youngsters to run around. For special events there is a large grass area which provides space for a marquee away from the out-buildings and this is only available to guests of Glanhenwye.
