Home description
Our house has been restored with as much attention as we would our own home.We are French and want to offer you a French way of life in an authentic hamlet where a few farms are still in activity.We used to be walnut growers,now my English skills help me do my best to welcome you in our lovely Périgord!Downstairs:The main room with its fully equipped open plan kitchen ,2 comfortable sofas and armchairs,local style furniture,exposed beams, overlooks a large covered terrace,a closed garden and the safely fenced pool(10x5),with a nice view around and total privacy.Next to it,.a double room(kingsize) en suite shower room,with independent toilets. Upstairs:oakstairs lead to a big corridor and 3 bedrooms:1 double-1 twin bedded with a cot-1 three bedded-Bathroom - toilets- Reading corner with games and plenty of English and French books for kids and teenagers.All rooms have exposed beams and tiled floors,are furnished with localstyle comfortably equipped beds. Large parking for 2 or 3 cars ,a very sunny pool terrace with sunbeds next to the covered terrace.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
Our gite is located in Black Périgord,an area famous for its numerous touristic sites and one of the nicest parts of France..It's away but within easy reach(20 to 45 mn) from the busy places and famous spots such as the prehistoric caves of Lascaux,the medieval town of Sarlat,the Dordogne Valley with its many castles and picturesque villages.No need to mention our world famous cuisine and local recipes(foie gras,confit,truffles,walnuts ). Local wines are a must,tasting Montbazillac or Bergerac is a worthwhile experience! We enjoy a nice sunny weather most of the time,for the past years,June and September have been very warm and dry,this is actually a very good period to discover the area without the crowd!
Hautefort area
The gite is set in a quiet hamlet ,this makes it very relaxing and authentic.Hautefort(6km) is the place for shopping,besides,you can try the nice local restaurants for a reasonable price.This small town is famous for its huge medieval castle which dominates the area and its Medecine Museum.Nailhac ,our small village,is the walnut capital :it's surrounded by thousands of walnut trees and well-known for its walnut festival in August!Footpaths and walking trails are all over if you enjoy walking after a good swim...Quad biking can be practised 5km away,another pleasant way to discover the area could be to try a balloon flight(they start in Hautefort )!

By plane:Ryanair(Bergerac or Limoges airports are 1 hour away)AirLingus or British Airways(Bordeaux or Toulouse 2 hours away) By car 40 km from Périgueux,Sarlat and Brive.Located 2 km off the road N704,6km before joining the N 89 or the motorway Bordeaux Lyon.

Upstairs,a reading corner with indoor games and plenty of English and French books for all ages but mostly for kids and teenagers. Downstairs,plenty of information in English about the village and the area is available,to make you feel at home rapidly. 2 cots are provided:1(for kids under 6)is 60 by 140,the other(for younger ones) is 60 by 120 , mobile and foldable.Bedlinen is provided free on request. Basic non perishable items are provided as well as a welcome hamper which can be a saver in case of late arrival..(the local supermarket is open on Saturdays until 7pm and on Sundays until 12pm). Baby equipment available on request.(highchair,bath,stairgate)
Further details outdoors: Space, privacy and a quiet,peaceful atmosphere can't but make your holiday relaxing!The closed garden is totally safe for kids,the safe gate to the pool is another plus,besides,it's saltwater for your comfort.(open from May 16 to September 29).Playing tabletennis in the yard or other games(skittles,dwarts,badminton,swings)outside can keep everybody busy and happy. The quiet cool covered terrace next to the pool,is a very relaxing area whatever the weather and a firstclass eating place while enjoying the day or night country view over the hills or watching the kids on the swings. The covered BBQ corner includes both an electric plancha which is meant to make life easier while enjoying grilled food and a traditional charcoal BBQ. NEW!! A jacuzzi will be available in 2009.
