The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
Situated north east Dordogne , Cherveix-Cubas is an ideal place for a relaxing yet interesting holiday away from the busy tourist area slightly further south. Summers are usually hot and sunny; autumn and spring mild. Plenty of markets with local produce nearby, caves, castles canoeing, vtt, horse riding, golf, walking. The contryside around Cherveix- Cubas is full of interest, beauty and history.Chateau d'Hautefort very imposing as are Jumilhac le Grand, Losse, Puy Guilhem and many others within easy reach along the banks of the Dordogne river. Towns to visit include St Jean de Cole, Brantome, Montignac, Sarlat and of course, Périgueux. Prehistoric caves are a 'must' Lascaux, Villars, Padirac, amogst the best.

Canoeing and Kayaking are part of the way of life and an enjoyable day on the river is easy to organise. The region is famous for its gastronomy- duck in all forms from foie gras to confit, truffles (the most famous coming from Sorges, about 30 kms away) Monbazillac and Pecharmant wines from the Bergerac area, and cépes the renowned local mushroom.

Further details indoors: Chez Baron is well equipped and with the owner on site any shortcomings can easily be rectified. The property has the advantage of staying very cool in summer.On the ground floor there is a large living space (55sq m) including dining, kitchen, and sitting area.Adjacent is a comfortable bedroom with king size bed and cot.the toilet is apart from the shower/bathroom. On the first floor there are two rooms; one with double bed and the other with a single. In the sitting area the sttee can be converted into a double bed.
Further details outdoors: Table tennis. donkeys and horses in grounds. the pool terrace area is landscaped ; the pool measures 11 x 5M and is 1m deep at shallow end and 1m60 aft its deepest.; it is a overflowing pool so there is no problem with flies on the surface, there are sunbeds and parasols provided but not swimming towels. the terrace area has adequate tables and chairs and barbeque - wood available in barn for guest use .
