Hatherleigh / Highampton area
The perfect location to do as much or as little as you choose. Children can be entertained at the many local theme parks. (The Big Sheep and the Milky Way are both close to home).
Dartmoor is just 15 minutes by car - good for walking, cycling and pony-trekking.Hatherleigh comes to life every Tuesday with its flourishing market, where you can buy good local produce and homemade cakes.The Bickford Arms is a lovely pub/restaurant offering excellent food. Worth booking in advance!
Visit nearby Bude - a lovely coastal town with long sandy beach (lots of surfing) and good places to eat near the estuary. Sandy Mouth Bay is a stunning National Trust beach (plenty of good walks here and good coffee shop). Tavistock is a charming old market town with pannier market. Take a stroll around the beautiful RHS Gardens at Rosemoor (on way to Bideford). Boscastle is slighter further out but well worth the visit - lovely medieval harbour and village with interesting shops.
How to get there
From A30 West of Exeter: A386 (North) signposted Okehampton / Bideford. At Hatherleigh roundabout turn left onto A3072 to Highampton. Lakeview Rise is approx. half a mile from village on the left.
From Bude: (A39 North) Turn right onto A3072 to Holsworthy. Second turning left to Bideford / Okehampton. Straight over roundabout to Okehampton. Left at T-junction onto A3072. Lakeview Rise is on the right - approx. half a mile before you reach Highampton.

No smoking in cottage please. There is a useful folder detailing onsite and local information for guests. Tea and coffee provided. Pool and Sauna are open all year (guests will be provided with their own key). Fishing Lake open all year. Please obtain a fishing license (available from local shop).
