School Cottage Battle is a spacious and well presented three bedroomed cottage sleeping up to six people, it is an excellent base for exploring not only the ancient town of Battle but is also just a 10 minute drive from the historic town of Hastings with the varied attractions in this part of East Sussex as well as nearby Kent.
The property has been recently renovated to an extremely high standard and has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating by Visit Britain. The three bedrooms consist of Kingsize, a double and twin beds.

There is a footpath from the private parking area to the front door which opens into a hall with a cloakroom to the left. There is a large, bright, open-plan lounge/dining room with cream leather sofas, dining table, chairs, TV, with freeview, DVD player and selection of DVDs. There is also a selection of games, puzzles and books.
The well fitted and fully equipped kitchen is next to the dining area. Stairs from the lounge lead up to the bedrooms and family bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and wc. The spacious master bedroom has a king size bed, large wardrobes and drawer space, TV and an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and wc. There is a double bedroom and also a twin bedroom, both of which have wardrobes and drawer space and both have rural views across fields to the ancient town of Battle.

The South East England / Sussex region


East Sussex, situated on the south coast, has a beautiful coastline and large Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty including the South Downs and Ashdown Forest.
Peaceful rolling countryside combines with a variety of urban lifestyles and good transport links to London and abroad.
The Hastings, Sussex / Battle area
The historic town of Battle lies just 5 miles from Hastings and is the site of the famous 1066 Battle of Hastings. Battle Abbey was founded to commemorate the event and the town was gradually built around the Abbey. During your stay visit the Abbey and walk across the battlefield or visit Yesterdays World Museum.
Hastings, originally a fishing port, is now a seaside resort, it is still possible to buy fresh fish directly from the fishermen near their, exclusive to Hastings, black fishing huts. Close by in the Old Town there are narrow lanes, buildings dating back as far as early Tudor times, museums, antique shops and classic inns. On hot days visit the shingle beach or take a walk in Hastings Country Park.
On wet days there is much to do including Underwater World, Smugglers Adventure in the Caves on the West Hill, Clambers, a children's indoor and outdoor play centre or the Shipwreck and Coastal Heritage Centre.
Whilst staying at School Cottage Battle it is easy to include visits to Bodium, Dover and Pevensey Castles. Historic Canterbury, the medieval Cinque Port town of Rye as well as the seaside resorts of Bexhill and Eastbourne. If you fancy a trip to France, Dover is about 1 1/2 hours drive and the Eurotunnel entrance at Folkestone is even closer. The theatres and other attractions of London are also available by taking the train as the journey lasts about 1 1/2 hours.
Those who like gardens and forests will enjoy trips to Battle Great Wood, Sissinghurst, Pashly Manor, Great Dixter, Sheffield Park Garden and Bedgebury Pinetum where there is also a 'Go Ape' for those who like to be in the trees. A ride on a steam train on the Kent and esat Sussex Railway between Bodium and Tenterden provides the chance to see more of the local countryside. Herstmoneux Castle with its renowned moated castle, superb Elizabethan Gardens and world famous science centre is about a 30 minute drive.
The area has several vineyards which welcome visitors as well as pretty villages with old inns for pub lunches. Those wanting more activity will find golf clubs at Battle and Sedlescombe, fishing at Darwell Resevoir, swimming at Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne, horse riding in Catsfield and Hastings and water sports at Bewl Water or Rye.

Any booking will be only be considered confirmed once a non-returnable deposit has been received, by cheque in pounds Stirling, for one third of the booking cost. Full payment is due eight weeks before holiday.
