The South East England region
The attractions, cafe's and pubs in Hastings will entertain all ages. This beautiful historic town dates back to at least the 8th century, but flint arrowheads & Bronze Age artifacts have also been found from prehistoric settlements!
Hastings is one of Britain's oldest fishing ports. Boats have worked from the beach in front of the ancient town for over a thousand years. You can buy freshly caught fish direct from the fishermen's shop.
The Old Town is where all the fun happens, located around the fishing port with lots of amusements, tourist attractions, history to explore and the quirky boutique and antique shops in George Street. Otherwise head over to the large Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.
Very unique to the area, you can go search the local shoreline cliffs for dinosaur bones and fossils, especially good at Covehurst Bay. Also dotted all around this area of England are amazing castles and all the history from the 1066 Battle of Hastings (Norman conquest of England).
Come and explore this fantastic get-a-away!
The area is officially the sunniest part of the UK, and one that is historically very British.
You can walk between us (Covehurst Bay) and Hastings either along the cliff top or via the beach. It will take about 45 minutes!
Navigate the amazing footpaths and trails dotted around the East Sussex countryside. There's nothing better than going on long walks enjoying spectacular views of the coastline, green countryside, wooded glens, castles, caves and wild life. All this mixed with the fresh air from the sea, will provide many great days out.
We can also offer guided walks around the area, showing you the best trails and secret pathways not marked on the maps. Please just ask!
We are located in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve. It covers 660 acres (267 hectares) to the east of Hastings. Sandstone cliffs, glens covered with gorse and trees, footpaths, nature trails, picnic areas and ample car parking are some of the features at the country park.
The nature reserve is set in a High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The park supported considerable human activity in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds and landmarks date from Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Romano-British, Saxon, Medieval, post-Medieval, Victorian to World War II periods. A large majority of the park has been identified as an Area of Archaeological Interest. Rare birds breed on the cliffs.

"Relaxing & Friendly"
The cottage itself is lovely, and it is situated in an area which is far enough away from the busy hassle of Hastings, yet close enough for anyone to take a stroll to do some shopping, or easier yet, … More

"Lovely weekend in the countryside"
The cottage is pretty and comfortable and in an amazing location on the edge of Hastings country park nature reserve. We did not take a car and walked into Hastings each day (either along the beach or the clifftop walk, both very pretty routes) which took between 1 and 1.5 hours (although a more direct route would be possible). Buses were easy to catch back in the evening.
The cottage itself was lovely and we swam in the pool every day which was great. I would happily recommend staying here to anyone.

"A very magical weekend"
An excellent service and stay in the cottage, the owners of the property were very welcoming and as i was using the cottage to propose to my girlfriend they were very happy for me to make it the magical weekend that i had envisioned by going the extra mile for me. The indoor heated swimming pool and garden is amazing and is great for all ages to enjoy. Overall great place to go and would never forget what a lovely stay we both had. Thank you Chris for making it possible.

"Chill out in luxurious surroundings, be prepared for the best night's sleep of your life!"
From the moment of booking we received fabulous service, with Chris communicating all we needed for a great stay. Upon arrival, we were delighted with the property. Spotlessly clean and tastefully finished to a high standard. The welcome pack was a toughtful touch, with fresh fruit, milk, muffins, chocolate biscuits and cider. Swallows Nest has everything you could wish for as far as kitchen equipment is concerned, the jacuzzi bath was great fun and the 6' bed truely sumptuous.
There is a lovely pool, but we were too busy sleeping and exploring the beautiful countryside to use it! As the weather was a little changeable we opted for the shorter walk along to Fire Hills. The scenery is glorious and the views over the coastline and channel breathtaking. If you're after a real workout however, the walk down and back to Fairlight Glen is magnificent too!
We will definitely be back and can't stop telling our friends!

"Peaceful with added luxuries!"
We stayed here for 2 nights, the property itself was perfectly clean, throws were provided on sofas for our little dog and there was everything you could need for your stay. Lovely little welcome hamper which was nice plus milk and tea etc. the welcome pack has clearly had a lot of thought and time put into it to make sure guests can make the most out of their stay. Very friendly owners who are happy to help with anything. So close to hastings but you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside! Highly reccommend, wonderful stay.
