"Great for peace and tranquility"

This is a very rural location, so as long as that is what you want it is great. Lovely garden and surrounding woodland, quiet with low light pollution. Very attentive hosts, who responded quickly to any needs and are very willing to help in any way. Although the lounge/kitchen area may seem small on the photos, the whole cottage actually felt very spacious, with lots of space for suitcases, clothes, food requirements, dry or wet boots/clothes/jackets etc. (which we didn't need thanks to the kindness of the weather) We cooked almost every night and the kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. Bed very comfortable and lots of hot water for showers. Lots of local information available, plus reading material etc.

Thank you for the wonderful review we are indeed in a rural loction but perfectly situated for visiting all the great places to visit in this glorious area of Sussex and High Weald.

"What a find!"

This was our first visit to the Byre and we loved everything about this place. The cottage is fantastic and the location is perfect - easy access everywhere for sightseeing but set in such a peaceful and tranquil location, including private woods to walk in. Paul and Julia are without doubt the perfect hosts and are full of helpful tips and ideas regarding sightseeing in the local area. They also kept us supplied with fresh eggs, fruit and veg from their garden. Ghilly the dog is great company (I am not normally a big fan of dogs but I would gladly have brought him home with us)
This has probably been the most perfect break we have ever had and we have every intention of returning in the future.
Thank you Julia, Paul and Ghilly for making it so very special!

Thanks for your great review.
We did have a quick peep in your car in case Ghilly was a "stow away"!!
Do hope to see you again next year.

"Perfect holiday and wonderful hosts."

We have just returned from another wonderful stay at the Byre.
Julia Paul and family are very friendly and always make us feel very welcome. They also provided a generous welcome pack along with eggs from their hens and fresh produce from their garden.
The Byre is a beautiful setting to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the area of outstanding natural beauty.
We enjoyed our walk to the woods to feed the pigs, and are very much looking forward to our return visit next year.
We would highly recommend the Byre, its a fabulous cottage in a peaceful setting.

It is so nice to know that you enjoyed the garden produce as much as we enjoy the challenges of growing it!!The chickens,(our "girlies"),certainly produce delicious eggs and also enjoy our peaceful spot!
we really look forward to seeing you again next year.

"Peaceful rural setting near Hastings."

We stayed at Byre Cottage for 2 weeks in July and loved every minute. The cottage was spacious and well appointed with all the comforts of home. The kitchen is well equipped, with lots of crockery and cutlery for the dishwasher. Our hosts, Julia and Paul were fantastic hosts giving us advise for local places to eat, what to see in the area and supplying us with fresh vegetables and flowers from their garden. We did lots of day trips from the cottage, traveling to Maidstone Kent, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, and the 1066 tours in Battle and around Hastings. We even travelled to Paris on the Eurostar from Ashford Station which is 1hrs drive from Byre. The cottage is peaceful and relaxing. Sheep grazing in the paddock next door, a walk in the Woodland or a drink with a book in the garden all made this holiday memorable. Also their little dog Ghilly would visit to say hello. Thank you for making us feel welcome and sharing this beautiful part of England. I would highly recommend this cottage.

This was probably Ghilly's best 2 weeks ever - little treats everyday he was sad for quite sometime when you left and most definitely hopes you will return. Thank you for all the advice on fruit growing we shall endeavour to put it in to practice. It was a pleasure to get to know you both.

"As Usual a Wonderful Week in a Real Home from Home"

We have stayed in 'the Byre' on about 8 ocassions and every time we come back feeling refreshed and revived. The cottage is always spotless and has every amenity and there is always a welcome pack of milk etc.Parking is easy The area is SO quiet and we really enjoy walking in the Masters' woods every day. The Byre is very central for sight-seeing and for the coast and we never have enough time to visit all our favourite places. Paul and Julia are perfect hosts - always there if you need them and have many suggestions on what to do. We love our daily chats and enjoy visits from their lovely dog Ghilly. We feel it is like doing a 'home from home' and we are looking forward to our next visit. We would whole-heartedly recommend the Masters and 'the Byre' to anyone. It is a gem of a place

As always it is a great pleasure to have you both to stay, which we both enjoy, is it really 8 times! Keeps us on our toes knowing you will be returning seeking new adventures as well as returning to old favourites

"An idylic location in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside"

We have stayed at The Byre for a week during July for the last four years, infact have just booked a second week for September this year. The location is stunning, a willow lined lake complete with baby ducks greets you at the end of the lane. The accommodation is very spacious and scrupulously clean. The bed is the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Linen and towels of a high standard. Fresh flowers on the dining room table - milk, bread, eggs and juice in the fridge. Lots of leaflets on various local attractions, NT, gardens, castles etc. The owners Paul and Julia are so helpful with suggestions on routes, tide times etc, they give assistance and advice in a totally unobtrusive manner. The nearby beaches of Littlestone, Greatstone, Hythe, Romney and Dungeness are peaceful, totally unspoilt - it is like stepping back in time. We especially like the miniature railway from Dungeness to Hythe, Bodiam Castle, and the Tenterden-Bodiam Heritage railway. Tenterden is a very interesting town, wide pavements, tree lined and gently bustling. Lots of interesting shops to gaze into. Sheep graze in the fields outside the windows, it is so quiet and peaceful you can feel yourself unwind as soon as you park the car. Can't wait for our next holiday at the Bryre.

It was such a pleasure to see you both again and meet you new dog Beau-what a poppet!Ghilly would have been pleased if you had left him behind!!
So glad that you feel relaxed and comfortable, because this is what we always hope to achieve.
We really appreciate all the beaches, walks and attractions close by and are pleased that we can help our guests to enjoy this fantastic location. We have lived here for 6 years and never tire of the wonderful views.
Look forward to welcoming you again in September.

"Beautiful cottage for a relaxed holiday in the country side"

We stayed at The Byre for two weeks. Paul and Julia are the best hosts you could wish for. The Byre is a beautiful cottage, really fully equiped and all you need for a country holiday. The property is very large and offers private gardens/woodland. We stayed there with our dog, Border Terrier Paddy, and for him it was heaven specially because of Ghilly, the Border Terrier owned by Paul and Julia. It was me and my shadow from day one on. There is no worry for traffic because The Byre is located 700m from a country road. We had the best holiday in years and we will com back, that's for sure.

Dear Paula Sicco and Paddy,
Great review-thanks! We certainly enjoyed your stay, especially Ghilly who sulked for 2 days when Paddy went home! We hate saying "goodbye" so hopefully see you in 2014. Julia Paul and Ghilly

"Wonderful property, perfect hosts. Highly recommended"

This was our first visit to The Byre and we hope it won't be our last. We received a warm welcome from Paul and Julia and it just got better from there. The cottage had everything we needed and was very well equipped to make us comfortable and relaxed after a day out walking or visiting nearby attractions. A quick glance at the visitors' book shortly after settling in confirmed our first impressions; there wasn't a complaint or a gripe to be seen. On the contrary, it was a testimony to a lot of hard work over the years by two people who work very hard to ensure their guests have the best possible experience. We were happy to add our own contribution and we would recommend this location to any of our friends or family. Thanks again to Paul, Julia and of course, Ghillie.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Julia and Paul
