Enquire nowThe South East England / Sussex region
South East England combines the highest average daytime temperatures found in the British Isles with the highest sunshine averages on the British mainland. The coast has consistently more sunshine than the inland areas: sea breezes, blowing off the sea, tend to clear any cloud from the coast.
The Hastings, Sussex area
Hastings is home to the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror, and a strong local arts community. Hastings Old Town is vibrant and bustling, offering museums, nature parks, boutique shopping and art galleries including the new Jerwood Gallery located in the middle of the fishing quarter opposite Aylesbury Cottage. In addition within minutes is an aquarium, model railway and fantastic places to eat and drink and ofcourse the beach. Hastings has a great tradition of festivals many of which are held within the Old town: 6th May - Jack in the Green http://www.hastingsjack.co.uk/hist.html 6th May - Bikes by the Sea http://www.1066.net/bikes/2011.htm 6th/7th July - Hastings Beer and Wine festival http://hbmf.co.uk/about 4th August - Old Town Carnival http://www.1066.net/carnival/ 15th/16th September - Hastings Food and Wine Festival http://www.visit1066country.com/site 13th October - Hastings Bonfire
