Hastings, Sussex

St Leonards on Sea lies to the west of the seaside town of Hastings, just a short walk along the promenade. Places of Interest include Norman Road which has been famous for its antique shops and is enjoying a current revival with many quirky and diverse businesses being established. The chef Nick Hales, who spent 16 years in London at restaurants such as Le Caprice and L’Odeon, opened St Clement’s in St Leonards (with a Michelin bib gourmand) , and QOL Fine foods a deli/café with an artistic flare serving wholesome, mostly homemade or carefully sourced food are just a couple of the delights waiting to be enjoyed. The southern end of Norman road leads into Warrior square gardens and then directly onto the promenade. The sea front of St Leonards is dominated by the art Deco apartment block, Marine Court, built in 1937 modelled on the Ocean Liner Queen Mary and now known locally as “The Ship “. Here you will find further evidence of St Leonards revival with a host of quality restaurants and food outlets with sea front seating continental style !
