About the home

Ridge View overlooks the south coast and has a fantastic 180 degree view looking out over trees to the sea. It is close to the some of the best beaches on the island and has easy access to main entertainment areas, restaurants and supermarkets. Golf and cricket are nearby. We visit our house regularly and ensure that it is maintained to the highest standard. Our helpful agent is available to assist during your stay. Based on suggestions from our guests, we have added improvements to make your stay more enjoyable.

The nearest three beaches are: Accra/Rockley, Carlisle Bay and Drill Hall/Hilton. Carlisle Bay is a mile long and excellent for walking, swimming and snorkelling - there is an inshore marine reserve with wrecks and many fish, and often turtles. Drill Hall is the main nesting site for turtles on the island and is also popular with surfers and boogie boarders. Accra/Rockley is a popular, lively beach and is excellent for enjoying the waves. There is also a board walk that connects Accra to Drill Hall which great for an early morning or an evening stoll or jog.

Golf: Rockley Golf Course - a number of our guests play here - 5 minutes drive. Barbados Golf Club - 15 minutes drive.

Cricket: Wanderers Cricket Club - you can see the grounds from the balcony: bring your binoculars and follow the game. Kensington Oval - 10-15 minutes drive.

There is an office/work area with a desk, book shelves, phone and internet - so you can plug in and work/stay connected while on holiday.

Ridge View is much more spacious than many holiday rentals - with a floor area of 1 900 sq ft - and represents excellent value for money. The large pool is located immediately in front of the house. There are extensive, well kept grounds. Most of the residents are permanent or long-term. Therefore, it is a very quiet and peaceful location - located at the end of a no-though road.

Our house has a full sized kitchen, one master double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms. The veranda overlooks the South coast. The whole house, including the veranda, is netted against mosquitos, so you can keep the windows open and sit outside at any time of the day or evening. The house is within a very quiet and secure development with full-time gardeners and night-time security guard. There is a full-sized washing machine and dryer. Bathrooms and kitchen finished to high specifications with marble and granite tops, respectively.

The Christ Church Parish region

The best beaches on the South Coast are located in Christ Church. Two golf courses are nearby. Very near Wanders Cricket Ground and a close to the Kensington Oval Cricket Stadium. The area also contains the island's principal entertainment areas and the horse racing track. You can snorkel on the wrecks in Carlisle Bay and see lots of fish - and often turtles: this is one of our nearest beaches. The recently opened South Coast board walk is very near for a relaxing stroll by the sea. There is a jogging course at the Garrison which is within easy reach of the house. Many restaurants and entertainment spots are located throughout the area. There are many others services such as surfing, sub-diving, sports fishing and boat charters located is this part of the island.

Ridge View overlooks the South coast. The veranda and balcony have uninterrupted views over trees to the sea.

The Hastings, Barbados area

Ridge View is centally located for beaches, golf, cricket, restaurants, the St Lawrence Gap and Oistins entertainment areas, and the historical Garrison area and horse racing course, . It is within easy reach of two golf courses and is well place for supermarkets and other shops. Sailing, snorkelling, walking, jogging, scuba-diving, surfing, boat charters, fishing and many other activities are all within easy reach.

Located in a ridge overlooking the south coast, the house has a 180 degree panoramic view. The select development where it is located consists principally of owner-occupied and long-term tenanted properties. It is therefore very quiet, peaceful and private - and is located at the end of a no-through road. Enjoy returning to a cool, green oasis after a day at the beach. There is also the option of just lazing at home on the veranda or by the pool. Watch the sun coming up in the morning and enjoy sunsets. The house is fully screened against insects.

WE REALLY DID ENJOY YOUR HOUSE! - IDEALLY PLACED
We had a wonderful time in your house. It was perfectly located for us. First of all, it was very near our relatives. Secondly, as it is just above the Garrison racecourse, we were able to go down to watch the horses train twice a week. Thirdly, it was within 5 minutes by car Carlisle Bay (our ‘spiritual’ home)!! We hired 2 cars that fitted into the 2 parking places. We travel to Barbados very frequently and have rented a few times before but never so ideally placed. Thank you so much again. We really did enjoy your house!

A BEAUTIFUL TREASURE
Thank you for the use of your lovely home. Having driven over most of the island, we realize what a beautiful treasure you have here. We particularly enjoyed your enclosed patio with its lovely water and nature view every morning and evening.

We really enjoyed our vacation in Barbados and your house. It is very conveniently located to everything we wanted to see. Your list of recommendations has also been very useful. We love Carlisle beach so much that we have only used the pool once. Between golf at Rockley and touring we have been quite busy - the time has flown by!

QUITE AND RELAXED
We liked the green space around the house. The Gunsite compound is very quiet and relaxed. The neighbourhood where the house is located is interesting, as it is not part of the main tourist zone and was more like actually living in Barbados. We also chatted to neighbours and picked up local information.

REALLY CENTRAL
We wished we could have stayed longer. Your house is really central for both the beaches and entertainment. With two teenagers, this meant that drop-off and pick-ups were very easy.

HAD THE POOL TO OURSELVES
We really enjoyed our stay in your house: it had everything we needed and was very quiet and relaxing. We hardly saw anyone else at the pool and had it to ourselves during most of our stay: lovely! The pool was cleaned every morning, as was the deck area.

I particularly liked walking along Carlisle Bay and snorkelling on the marine reserve: we saw a turtle.

Getting to the south coast beaches and the restaurants was so easy - most places were only a 5-10 minute drive away.
