Mocketts Farm cottages is a beautiful cottage complex of four cottages in the secluded countryside of Harty, on the Isle of Sheppey, in the North of Kent. The remote Hamlet of Harty offers everything to be desired from a getaway destination. With large open spaces, fantastic scenery, and an abundance of beautiful wildlife the location offers the setting for some of the best walks in Kent.

As well as the perfect reserve for a bird watching holiday the location hosts the most spectacular views in Kent. Harriers Nest has been awarded a 4 star grading by Visit Britain, in conjunction with a Gold award for recognition of excellence. With the capacity to accommodate up to 6 guests in total if utilising the sofa bed, of four in bedrooms, the cottage offers spacious living areas and are equipped with high quality, comfortable beds with en suite facilities.

There is an abundance of character with original oak beams, and large windows which allow the rooms to be illuminated by natural sunlight. The spacious kitchen is well equipped, making catering a breeze. In addition we are able to supply catering options should they be required. The cottage overlooks the farm pond, providing breathtaking views in all directions.

Up until 2008, the buildings played an active role at Mocketts Farm, however the recent conversion has given

them a completely new appeal. With the idyllic countryside location and

surrounding farmland make Harriers Nest the perfect spot for a self catering farm holiday in Kent.

Our communal games room above the car port has table tennis, American football table and a pool

table - along with a large selection of traditional board games for all the family to enjoy!

The Car port contains a small BBQ, and can be a handy space if the British weather suddenly decides

to drizzle on your BBQ! There is plenty of outdoor space, and several picnic tables outside. The pond outside is fenced off, and has lots of wildlife in and around it throughout the year.

We welcome dogs by prior arrangement only.

The Kent region

Harty is now the scene of extensive farming, a quiet backwater beloved by ornithologists and naturalists, a place of peace and solitude where rare birds nest and wild flowers abound in this remote corner of Sheppey. No trip to Harty is complete without a visit to the beautiful early Norman Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, often described as Kent’s remotest place of worship. Still lit by oil-lamps and candles, it contains treasures including well known 14th century Flemish chest with a design of two knights in a friendly jousting contest. Stolen from the church in 1987 and returned within days by reason of it being so well documented. The Church is open daily from dawn to dusk.

Harty Ferry

Harty is really a separate island, and until comparatively recently, the neighbourhood was known as the "Isles of Sheppey", which included the main island and the smaller ones of Elmley and Harty. The place was known as Hertei in 1086; Heartege in 1100; Herteye in 1242 and Harty by 1610.

Five minutes away is The Ferry House Inn, a 16th Century inn boasting the best waterside views for miles around. Here you can eat, drink and be merry, or why not book up some clay pigeon shooting?

The beach at Shellness / Leysdown is approximately 15 mintues drive away, or 1-2 hours walk across footpaths that offer spectacular views of the countryside and estruary.

"Peaceful and excellent value for money"

Mocketts Farm is the ideal place to "get away from it all." If you want peace and tranquility but with all the luxury of home this is a great place to stay. A welcome pack of bread and cake with wine on hand with a promise to just replace what you drink sets the tone for your entire visit. Friendly staff at the near by Ferry House Inn complete a wonderful experience.

"A fantastic place to stay for a family wedding weekend :)"

We hired the whole of Mocketts Farm during our wedding weekend. The fifteen double rooms and three sofa beds were enough for our wedding party. The accommodation was fantastic, especially 'The Saltings' with its open plan entertaining area and twenty seater dining table. All our guests loved it and many have suggested how they'd love to come back for other events. The houses are really well stocked with everything that we needed, all we needed to do was bring were ourselves and arrange for an Asda delivery on the afternoon we arrived!
