The South East England region

The High Weald (covering parts of Sussex, Surrey and Kent) lies in the heart of the South East and is one of England's finest landscapes protected by government legislation since 1983 to ensure its conservation for present and future generations. Ashdown Forest is the highest ridge of the High Weald and designated an area of ANOB and is the largest open access space in the South East (10 square miles) of which approximately two-thirds of it is heathland.
