Further details indoors:
You approach The Red House along a sweeping gravel driveway. An impressive hallway stretches before you into the heart of the home, with high corniced ceiling and pine wooden floors. There is plenty of interesting artwork adorning the walls, large ornate mirrors and the wide carpeted stairs to take you to the two upper floors.
The main drawing room is at the front of the house and is comfortably furnished with three generous sofas. A period working fireplace with over mantel mirror takes centre stage of this room with period features and high ceiling. Lit by a central chandelier and occasional tables with lamps, there is a bay window which bathes the room with natural sunlight, heavy curtains with tie backs, a wooden floor and a large rug give the room a cosy feel. There is a 47inch flatscreen TV with Blueray DVD player and is equipped with Sky TV. Wireless Broadband Internet is available throughout the house.
A door leads through to the long kitchen dining room, fully fitted with pine fronted cupboards and dark granite work-surfaces. There is an exposed brick fireplace which holds the dark green AGA with an array of cooking utensils hanging to the side, giving a lovely countryside feel to the room. The central island has space for 3 to sit and chat over a glass of wine whilst cook is busy. Crockery is displayed in a wall hung rack and a dishwasher, huge fridge freezer and separate wine fridge are at your disposal. The long oak dining table seats 10 and French doors allow a view out to the garden. Some beautiful occasional furniture and covered radiators bring a very grand feeling to this impressive room.
To the right of the main hallway and also to the front of the house is music room/library. A working fireplace with comfortable sofa, a huge array of books and a desk positioned in the bay window ensures that this is a pleasurable room to spend time in and for the lucky ones, listen to a private piano performance from the baby grand.
To the rear of the house, is a third reception room, with two sofas and views over the garden towards the barbeque and pool area. This room has an exposed brick fireplace and working wood burner. The ideal place to snuggle up with a book and a cup of cocoa on a cooler English afternoon. There is a wooden floor and heavy silk curtains giving a luxurious feel to this light and pretty room.
At the back of the hallway a good sized utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer as well as plenty of storage space for boots and coats after a long walk. Off this room is a small WC with hand basin.
The wide stairs turn and lead to the first floor where you will find three generous double bedrooms.
The Master bedroom is an imposing double aspect room with high ceilings, contrasting coloured cornice and deep red walls. The heavy silk curtains frame the views across the garden and the village green. There is an oriental style bed, made of mango wood, dressed with luxury cotton bed-linen, feature fireplace, and a beautiful rug which adds to the romantic feel of the room. A large painted wardrobe provides plenty of storage space. This bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with half oak panelled walls, an oak built in cupboard and an ornamental surround to the wash basin. Victorian, cast iron ball and claw bath and period WC and basin add to the Romanesque style decorating in this unique bathroom.
The second bedroom is to the front of the house and is a double aspect bright room with views of the surrounding countryside. An original feature fireplace, cream walls, cream blinds and drapes give the room a bright modern feel. There is a simple modern double bed, with bedside lamps, a built in wardrobe offering plenty of storage during your stay.
The third bedroom overlooks the back of the house and has a beautiful oak floor and double mahogany sleigh bed, dressed with crisp cotton bed-linen and cushions. There is a sofa, two bedside tables with lamps, feature fireplace with mirror above and a free standing old pine wardrobe.
The family bathroom overlooks the garden to the rear of the house, with bath and separate shower cubicle, WC and hand-basin with mirror above.
Stairs lead up to the third floor where you will find two more bedrooms and another family bathroom.
Bedrooms 4 and 5 are either twin or double rooms with sloping ceilings, cheerful white tongue and groove walls and old pine floors. The views out of the windows look over the village green towards the church.
The top floor bathroom is tiled in white, with a good size bath with a hand held Victorian shower, wash hand basin and WC. There is a Velux window to give natural light and the room is decorated to feel light and airy.
Both bath towels and hand towels are provided for guests throughout their stay. Please note that swimming pool towels are NOT provided and it is advised that guests bring their own if they intend to use the pool.
