Glan Gors self catering apartment in Snowdonia National Park is a pleasant non-smoking holiday home nestled in the historic town of Harlech. Ideal for families and couples, the ground floor property sleeps up to five people. We are sorry, but due to previous bad experiences we do not take bookings from young single sex groups who do not wish to maintain the quiet environment and respect the property and neighbours. The property is ideal for families, couples and friends but as it is an apartment with upstairs neighbours it is not ideal for lively night owls and is definitely not a suitable venue for hen or stag parties.

Comprising of three comfortable bedrooms (1 king, 1 double & 1 single), a spacious lounge area and well equipped kitchen, it is ideal for the self catering visitor. In the warmer months enjoy sitting out on the lawns and admire the spectacular views of the hills above Harlech.

It is within walking distance of a selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and of Harlech beach which is ideal for families with children. Locally there are several other large sandy beaches. Royal St David's golf course is about a five minute walk away. The area is excellent for walkers of all abilities, either in the heart of Snowdonia or on the Rhinogydd a few miles behind Harlech. For those wanting to tour and looking for a bit of history there are beautiful castles in the area including the nearby Harlech Castle.

Our ground floor apartment provides easy access ideal for those who are less mobile. The lounge/dining area has plenty of comfortable seating, TV with integral DVD & freesat. There is a small selection of DVDs, books, cards, & board games. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge & washing machine. We provide bedding, towels (except beach towels) & tea towels, but if you prefer to bring your own we will deduct 10% from the rental price. Electricity is included in the cost of the rental. We normally send a key out by post when the balance has been received. For late bookings we can make an arrangement for the key to be collected from a near neighbour.

We are happy to take a well behaved adult dog so long as the owners bring its own bed & don't allow it onto chairs or beds.

BY CAR. From the north take the A496 from Maentwrog & take a right turn (still the A496) after you go through the village of Talsarnau. As you enter lower Harlech the Morfa garage (Texaco) is on the left hand side of the road and immediately opposite this is the right turn into Glan Gors estate.

From the south via Barmouth: go north on the A496 & about 2 miles after passing through Llanbedr follow the road downhill , past Royal St David's golf course on your left & then over the railway crossing. The Morfa garage is on your right hand side & you turn left into the estate opposite this garage.

Turn into the car park on the left that has a large tree by its entrance & park there. In the far corner of the car park there is a path heading in the direction of the school playing field fence. This leads to number 36, which is the ground floor property nearest to the fence.


Harlech is on the Cambrian coast line, with some direct connections from Birmingham. Go onto the main road, cross & turn to the right. Glan Gors estate is about 5 minutes walk, just past the school field & the property can be reached by walking along the path which is a left turn immediately after the school field.


Buses (38) from Barmouth stop at the front of the estate. There is an express bus (X94) that runs from Wrexham to Barmouth.

Normal arrival time is 3pm and departure is 11am. Subject to other bookings we can be flexible on this. If you wish to stay on after 11am please speak to the neighbour at 32 (who looks after the property for us) the day before and she will let you know if this is possible. We request that return for a late departure that you help us by taking the bed linen off the beds.

The North Wales region

North Wales is a rural area with many beautiful beaches. The Snowdonia National Park includes the mountains of Snowdonia, the Rhinogs behind Harlech and Cader Idris. It is a rural area mostly involved in tourism and hill farming.


Harlech is a village size town with a 13th century world heritage site castle dominating the skyline. It is set between the mountains and the sea with a long safe sandy beach and an extensive dune system.

"Convenient Harlech base for holiday and exploration of North Wales."

Clean and comfortable, would be ideal for family with young children, being based on a small, but very well spaced estate....with wonderful views, especially of the castle. No immediate traffic danger… More

"Not exactly the seaside"

Harlech is technically by the seaside and one of the reasons we chose this rental was because it is apparently close to the sea. But if that's what you want, this is the wrong place. Glan Gors is a lovely, quiet, comfortable cottage, but it's not a coastal cottage.

It's convenient for lots of interesting places, and views around are magnificent. But they're mountain views, not of the ocean.

I'm sorry you thought we were nearer to the sea than we are as we quote our nearest beach (Harlech)as being about 1 km away, but pleased that you liked the property and the mountain views.

"A nice surprise"

I have some walking difficulties, I found it easy to get around inside and the parking was nearby.
Everywhere was very clean and there were plenty of kitchen facilities.
It did go cold at night but once we had the heating on it warmed up very quickly.
We found plenty of places within easy reach to go out to during the day.
The instructions for the apartment were very clear and easy to understand.

We're pleased to hear that our property was suitable for you and that you found it easy to get around inside.
