The Middlesex region
London is one of the great capitals of the world.
The best urban parks in the world, museums and art galleries, street entertainment, architecture and many landmarks are free.
If you want to spend your money there are tourist attractions, theatres, shops, concerts, pubs, cafe's and restaurants.
Originally a series of villages surrounding the ancient city these have now been absorbed into the expanding metropolis but retain there own distinct original character. Areas like Notting Hill, Richmond, Brixton and Mayfair are as different from each other as they are famous.
Every Borough has its famous residents, its historic links and something special to offer a visitor.
London will entertain you, excite you and leave you needing to come back again, soon.
Hampton Court Palace, across the road, home of Henry Vlll, is the obvious attraction in this area.. The Maze and gardens are almost as famous as the house and attract thousands of visitors every year. The Palace also hosts the annual flower show in July which rivals Chelsea in its size and reputation.
The area is well served culturally with theatres in Kingston and Richmond. There is live music at a variety of venues, ranging from pubs and clubs to Hampton Court's summer festival.
Sport is very popular in the area which attracts runners and rowers from all over the world. Bushy Park is the main focus for the runners and boasts a weekly, free 5km race every Saturday at 9am. Boat clubs are strung all the way along the Thames the nearest being Molesey Boat Club.
Those less competitive can swim at Hampton Heated outdoor pool just near the house, or just stroll in Bushy Park and admire the deer and other wildlife which live in this huge open space. In the summer it is a popular place to picnic and there is often a cricket match to give you an authentic English experience.
If the kids get bored and you want to venture further afield, Legoland, and Thorpe Park are a short drive away. Kew Gardens now features an aerial treetop walkway and of course central London is an easy day out by train.
