The house consists of an open-plan kitchen and living area, which has a comfortable sofa bed, one large bedroom with two single beds (made up as a double) and a child's bunk bed, as well as a bathroom with a shower. Our cosy “Lillstuga” can comfortably sleep 3 adults and 2 children.

It has a private south facing deck, where you can enjoy breakfast in the sun.

There is a large garden that is shared with the main house, which is on occasion occupied by the landlord. Within the garden there are several outside seating areas, including one that provides views of the sea.

As well as the house and the garden, we provide bicycles for your leisure and access to our boathouse and jetty (please see pictures). A small shed in the garden is available for storage, but has also been enjoyed as a playhouse by many children in the past.

The surrounding area boasts beautiful scenery, and a short walk will take you to the sea where there are several places to swim or simply take in the atmosphere. There is an abundance of fresh seafood sold by local fishermen including prawns, crayfish, mackerel and lobster.

The Gotaland region

Götaland refers to the Southern part of Sweden and our house is situated in Bohuslän on the West Coast.

Bohuslän is a stunning part of the northern aspect of the Gothenburg archipelago. It has a unique geography with up to 8000 islands lining the coast.

Summers are usually warm and the sea gorgeously refreshing. It is an ideal place for relaxing retreats, going swimming and taking long walks by the sea or active summer holidays with activities such as kayaking, diving, horse riding, fishing and more.

Hamburgsund

Our house is located in Heestrand, a small village approx 5km from Hamburgsund. It is a quaint little village just by the sea, which provides several places to go swimming just a few hundred metres away. Gorgeous walks along the cliffs and by the jetties can be enjoyed in the day or a peaceful summer evening.

The area is steeped in local history and culture and many varied activities are available to suit most needs.

Just north of Heestrand is a village called Slottet named after an old Viking castle up on one of the cliffs. This is where you will find Sweden's oldest Viking market. The market is open the first weekend in August but activities suitable for children and adults alike are available all year round.

In Hamburgsund you will find some restaurants and bars. From here you can also catch the ferry over to Hamburgö and spend the day going swimming and exploring the island.

Fjällbacka is only a few kilometres away, which is where you will find Kungsklyftan ("The King's Ravine"), which became famous following the popular book "Ronja the Robber's Daughter" written by Astrid Lindgren (the author of Pippi Longstocking). This is also the hometown of Ingrid Bergman and the setting of many books written by Swedish crime writer Camilla Läckberg.

30 minutes away you will find Smögen, one of the livelier towns on the West Coast. It is well known for it's long wooden pier, filled with shops in old fishing huts and restaurants.
