This 1 acre hideaway is bounded on two sides by streams.the dry zone scrub that surrounds the house is not landscaped but we do plant native jungle trees that are a haven for birds.

It is called river island because it is very secluded and feels like an island due to the 2 waterways.yet it is in close proximity to the tissamaharama road [also called the colombo galle highway],10 minutes by tuk tuk

Safari jeeps could be organized.

The wattle and daube architecture is characteristic of a village house but it is lockable.

The house consists of an open plan sleeping and seating area, 2 modern bathrooms and a large verandah for relaxing by the stream.steps built into the bank takes you down for a quick bath/swim before lunch. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, cooker, pans crockery and cutlery

Crisp white linen sheets and large mosquito nets make up your six mattresses on the sleeping platform. Towels are provided.

You could ask our manager samantika to go down to the market to buy fresh local produce and cook you up a down south curry and rice for an extra charge. hambantota also has a large supermarket and restaurants.

Basic and beautiful. no a/c and no hot water.

And if you are truly blessed, on a moonlit night you may see an elephant crossing the stream for a wander in your garden.
