Once you have parked in the secure underground parking bay and taken the lift up to the private penthouse lobby, you will enter the contemporary designed front line luxury penthouse suite which comprises of twin bedrooms, each with Juliet balconie providing amazing views over the olive groves and mountains, one of the children's play area can also been seen fron here so you are able to keep an eye on your children while they play. The combined living and dining area lead onto a 22 sq m all day sun trap terrace for alfresco dining and sun bathing with superb panoramic views of the swimming pool, 18 hole Jack Nicklaus designed championship golf course with a mountainess backdrop.

The Murcia region

Murcia is one of the regions with the most sunny days a year, an average annual temperature of 21º C, and 250 km of shoreline along two seas: the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean. It is noted for being a land of contrasts, with mountainous national parks, southern basins with steppe landscapes, and wonderful beaches such as those of La Manga, Mazarrón and Calblanque.

Murcia´s coastline is rich and diverse, areas of rough water contrasting with gentle coves and quiet beaches. Dunes, salt flats, wetlands... The coastline of Murcia Region contains a considerable number of areas of indisputable environmental interest, many of them Nature Reserves. Places where you can still find native flora and fauna such as the Phoenician juniper (Sabina mora), a native tree variety, and the "fartet" (Aphanius iberus), a minute and highly unusual fish, the only one of its kind.

The diversity of the landscape, the privileged climate and the cultural and historical richness make Murcia the perfect region to live in and enjoy the outdoors, practise water sports in the Mar Menor, explore its mountains, go hiking, rural tourism... and, of course, play golf.

The Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort area

This Resort is designed for the ultimate experience of freedom and nature, one that provides an incomparable feeling of well-being generated by the rational layout of its flanked avenues, its perfectly incorporated plant life, and its low construction density. It all comes together around a late 19th Century, colonial-style country house.

It was the home of the Riquelme Family, descendants of Guillén Riquelme, a noble knight who accompanied King Alfonso X the Learned on his conquest of Murcia. It has been restored to preserve the country house tradition of the Murcia of yore, and to maintain the balance between the romanticism of the past and the modernism of the future. The house has been recreated as it existed in those times, with gardens of the area´s native plants, which intertwine with the rays of sunlight that shine over this wonderful land of Murcia. The development project was carried out by EDSA and F&M Arquitectos, firms that leave their hallmark in each of the Resort´s details.

A bit of history...

Located on the estate that bears its name, this Resort is accessed by the Avileses to Sucina Road. It features a noble, late 19th Century colonial-style building, which was the retreat of the Riquelme family. The Riquelme´s were the descendants of Guillén Riquelme, a noble knight who accompanied King Alfonso X the Learned on his conquest of Murcia.

Affixed to the facade of this palace-house, his coat of arms displays the ornamental figures that identify and distinguish the noble family to which he belonged, and the other which he joined by marriage. The helm and crest of its minor shield over a field and a large barracks represent the distinguished warrior to whom they belonged.

A carriage roadway that ran through a beautiful palm grove provided access to the spacious central courtyard, which was lined with buildings devoted to the maintenance of the Riquelme Estate and services for its noble residents. Fountains of musical fresh waters, galleries of arches supported by open columns like those of a monastic cloister, a fortified tower of permeable walls, a beautiful palm grove, large windows from which to lean out and look at endless landscapes, are the elements that made this estate a place for rest and enjoyment.

The Riquelme family was noted for the patronage of the arts they practiced over many generations. One of the artists they patronized was the famous Murcian sculptor Francisco Salzillo. The museum in Murcia that bears his name is home to many of his works of art, such as the world famous nativity scene commissioned by Jesualdo Riquelme y Fontes for his Murcia Palace. Another patronized artist circa 1603 was sculptor Cristóbal de Salazar, who created the marble sepulchres for the great Riquelme chapel in the San Francisco de Murcia Convent.

“Perfectly situated apartment” This apartment is situated in one of the best spots on Hacienda Riquelme. The pictures of the pool do not do it justice; it is huge and we shared it with 2 other people for the whole time we were there. The apartment's terrace has beautiful views over the pool and golf course and gets the sun all day; the rear balconies with far-reaching views are perfect if you want a little shade. The transaction with the owner was faultless. I have recommended the apartment to friends and will definitely book again for next year. Thank you.
