About the home

The Beach Place, as its name suggests, is a four-bedroom beach villa that's located right on the beach. The Beach Place is spread out over two levels, with two en-suite bedrooms on the ground level and a master family suite comprising of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom that is linked by a shared bathroom on the upper level. The Beach Place is ideal for a family group, or a group of friends on a vacation away.

There are various sitting areas at The Beach Place, with the main sitting area on the upper level with views over the tops of the coconut trees towards the ocean and the horizon beyond. Additionally, there are various dining areas and sitting areas throughout the property.

All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with the best quality bedding, bed-linen and towels. For those who prefer their bedrooms to be naturally ventilated, there's the option of ceiling fans for more natural cooling.

The Beach Place is a fully staffed villa comprising of a house manager, a very accomplished cook, and two additional houseboys to attend to your every need and wants. The meal plans are as you wish - you discuss with the cook what your meal requirements are and he will shop for all the provisions, and cook everything according to all your wishes, and will present the bills for your inspection. There is no costly mark-ups and you'll find that this meal plan will prove to be very economical indeed. Ditto for the drinks and beverages - all alcoholic and other drinks will be procured at cost without any costly mark-ups.

For those wanting to venture out to explore the surrounds, there's ample opportunities for scuba diving at Unawatuna, or deep sea fishing, whale watching, boat-trips to hidden secret coves for picnics and snorkelling, bicycling in the lush green countryside, boat trips on lakes and waterways and exploring rainforests and tea plantations further afield. The staff at The Beach Place will be happy to arrange for such excursions.

Modern conveniences such as WiFi throughout the property ensures that one stays in touch with the outside world, and one can play one's own selection of tunes on the Bose I-pod dock that's provided.

Facilities

The Beach Place is furnished with comfortable high quality furniture. Special emphasis is given on the soft furnishings, in particular the bedding, sheets and towels, all of which are of the highest quality available in Sri Lanka.

There are various sitting areas and nooks at The Beach Place and one can either lounge right at the beach, or sit in the cool shade of the garden, protected from the glare and heat of the sun. There are sitting and dining areas both on the ground floor and on the upper level, giving individuals and couples the opportunity to escape to their own spaces.

The swimming pool is covered and in the shade, thus naturally cool and ideal for a very refreshing dip after spending the afternoon baking in the sun, or going for a sunny walk on the beach.

There is WiFi throughout The Beach Place and one can play one's own playlist of music on one's own I-pod on the in-house I-pod dock.

All food and beverages can be prepared at cost by the very accomplished in-house resident chef and he can whip up dishes as diverse as seared tuna tataki on fresh "noodles" of cucumber and radish, pan seared yellow-fin tuna fillet on a bed of fresh stir-fried greens, grilled chicked wrapped in a hot pita bread with salad and condiments, and of course an assortment of traditional Sri Lankan curries with rice.

All alcohol and beverages are at cost without any costly mark-ups.

The Beach Place is, as its name says, located directly on the beach and enjoys a wide beach frontage onto a pure white coral sand beach. Elevated over the beach, one can look directly onto the beach and the traditional stilt fishermen that's indigenous to the south coast of Sri Lanka.

There is a lovely garden at The Beach Place, with covered sitting and lounging areas and a further grassed area closer to the beach for those wanting to have a more private outside space.

Dining can be arranged outdoors in the garden, be it in the more private internal garden areas or right by the beach.

A barbeque in the evening is not to be missed.

The Beach Place is best rented as a whole villa by families, friends and like-minded groups. There are four double bedrooms, consisting of three double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. The family suite, which is located on the upper level is perfect for a family with small children as this suite consisting of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom is linked by a common bathroom thus making it easy for parents to have access to their children's room.

As The Beach Place is on two levels, the upper level is separate from the lower level and this is ideal for groups who wish to holiday together yet have their privacy at certain times of the day. There are various private areas to which individuals and couples can escape to.

The whole of The Beach Place is WiFi enabled.

It is small, intimate bay of golden sands fringed by coconut palms and turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It is home to exclusive villas and small boutique hotels which embody the influence of Geoffrey Bawa, the famous Sri Lankan architect.

Thalpe beach is only a short distance from historic Galle Fort. the 16th Century UNESCO World Heritage site and the South Coast beaches. Galle Fort is full of color and vitality amidst the restored Dutch merchants' houses into boutique hotel, galleries and cafes.

The stunning white and golden sand beaches of Unawatuna, Habaraduwa, Weligama and Mirissa are short Tuk Tuk ride away where scuba diving, deep sea water fishing, and surfing can be enjoyed.

The Beach Place is located right on the Thalpe Beach, now fast becoming THE destination in the south coast of Sri Lanka for those in the know. It is located close to the other luxury beach villas, boutique hotels, bijou bars and restaurants and the nightlife of Unawatuna is just a skip and a hop away.

The Beach Place is located approximately 125km from Colombo and airport transfers to The Beach Place can be arranged. Alternatively, one can take the seaplane directly to Koggala Airfield which is located just 5km from The Beach Place.

“if you're looking for a place to chill, The Beach Place is definitely the place to go” The Beach Place is a lovely villa, and I would definitely recommend it to any family or friends looking for a place to stay. The proximity to the beach was very convienent, and it also provided us with an amazing view. It also provided easy access to all the nearby attractions, which was a great advantage. After a day of relaxing, I knew that I was going to come to a well-cooked meal. The food was beyond excellent; I could never eat enough! Some of the best food I ate in my time in Sri Lanka, and that's no exaggeration. The Beach Place is by far the best choice to stay in for an amazing time, excellent food, and overall great service.
