There is one big bathroom with both a shower unit and a bath. There is a small back garden with barbecue facilities and a view over Kesh mountain. Private carpark at back of house.

The North West Ireland / County Sligo region

County Sligo's beautiful scenery has a charm to be found nowhere else in Ireland. The lakes of Sligo, its rivers and mountains, inspired the poet WB Yeats, who made it his home. The neolithic cairns of the wild but wonderful Carrowkeel cemetary are only a half hour's drive from the village. A 45 minute drive will take you to the neolithic cairns of Carrowmore, Knocknarea mountain with Queen Maebh's tomb, the beaches of Strandhill and Rosses Point and the lovely town of Sligo.


Gurteen area

Gurteen is the centre of a thriving traditional music scene in the area. The Coleman centre, a minute's walk from the house, holds traditional music nights every week. Some pubs in the village also have traditional music sessions at the weekend. Pub grub is of high quality with a minimum of three pubs selling meals. Fishing is a very popular sport in the area at Lough Gara (3miles) and Lough Key (15 miles). Kesh Mountain, with it's historic caves and Carrowkeel neolithic cemetary are a ten mile drive.


How to get there

Gurteen is in south county Sligo close to the Roscommon and Mayo borders. Knock airport is approximately 20miles away and is served by Bmi baby, Ryanair, Easyjet and Aer Arann express with flights daily from many cities in the UK. There are several Carhire firms at the airport including Argus, National , Europcar and Budget. Gurteen is 8 miles from Boyle, Co Roscommon and 16 miles from Carrick-on shannon.
