About the home

If you are looking to enjoy the complete Penang experience with a multitude of facilities on your doorstep then a stay at our family owned apartment can't fail to please. It's right on the famous 2km long Gurney Drive seafront promenande. Just perform a search of 'Gurney Drive' on the internet and read the extremely positive reviews of this area of Penang highly popular with locals and visitors alike. We can offer you spectacular views from the 38th floor of this 39 floor condominium. We can also offer you the full range of local cuisine at the nearby (5mins walk) Gurney Drive hawker stalls and a fun shopping experience at the huge Gurney Plaza Mall next door (2 min walk) offering multi-screen cinema, food for the cupboard and freezer, the latest fashion outlets, everything electrical and a food court and much more besides.

The apartment is on the East of the Island approximately halfway between downtown Georgetown and the tourist zone of Batu Ferringhi. It is easy to get from here up to the sandy beaches at Ferringhi and enjoy cocktails at the many plush beachfront hotels. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 en suite) and a fully fitted kitchen. From the balcony there are views across the straits to the East and towards Penang Hill to the West. We have fitted airconditioning units and ceiling fans to all bedrooms and the living room. There is a large pool and three tennis courts. We can also offer you optional airport transfers and the services of a very knowledegable local tour guide can be arranged at competitive rates. This is an excellent well equipped and comfortable apartment for both families and couples. The apartment also has Broadband internet access included.

Conditions

Bookings - Bookings to be made via email or phone. A 25% deposit will be required on booking and then the balance payable one month before your arrival date. Payment details will be provided at the time of booking.

Security Deposit - A deposit of £100 will be required to cover for any breakages and key/security pass replacement if lost during your stay. This will be refunded in full within two weeks of your departure date where there are no losses or breakages.

The Penang Island region

Penang Island, or Pulau Pinang as it is known locally, has become one of South East Asia's 'favourite places' to visit for many reasons. The climate is pleasant, the people are welcoming, there are many interesting places to visit on the Island and it is a cultural melting pot where everyone seems to get along. One of the main attractions has to be the sheer quality and quantity of food on offer to suit all tastes. Mention Penang to any Malaysian, whether at home or overseas, and they will surely agree that this relatively small island does indeed have the reputation of being the best place to visit in Malaysia if food is important to you.

Popular attractions on the Island include Penang Hill, Gurney Drive, Balik Pulau Town, Khoo Kongsi, Kek Lok Si Temple and the Penang Butterfly Farm. The railway up to the top of Penang Hill is well worth the ride and then if you are feeling like some exercise you can walk back down arriving in the botanical gardens. Sandy beaches are to be found at Batu Ferringhi where you can also partake in watersports and horse riding.

The Gurney Drive area

Look out of the window and it's all there around you. The seafront promenade that spans the length of Gurney Dirve is where locals take their early morning walks or jog, enjoying the sea breeze. The Gurney Drive foodstalls area is a collection of stalls selling all the specialities of Penang. The action at Gurney Drive begins in the late afternoon, at around 6pm, when the hawkers start cooking their dishes, and runs right through the night into the small hours, usually 3am on weekdays and 5am at weekends.

Recent years have seen stylish and elegant cafes, bars and restaurants springing up around the area. So it's not unusual to find people having their late supper at three in the morning at the Gurney Drive hawker area. Even at it's peak hours, a table at Gurney Drive will be served within 5 minutes.

Just a short walk from Gurney Drive is the Wat Chaiyamangkalaram, one of the most famous buddist temples in Penang. Just a 15 minute drive up Jalan Gottlieb and into Jalan Kebun Bunga, you will arrive at the Nattukkotai Chettiar Temple, the Penang Botanical Garden and the Craft Batik Centre.

Penang International Airport is well served by several major airlines including Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.
The Gurney Drive area can be reached in 30-40 minutes from the airport where taxis are always available. Alternatively we can arrange an airport collection service for you at a very competitive rate which will take you straight to the apartment door.
Car Hire is also available at the airport and there is a parking space for this at the accommodation. However, you may find your stay more relaxing simply by using the local taxis to ferry you around.
