The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The stretch of coast from Marmaris to Antalya, known as the Turquoise Coast, takes its name from the turquoise, warm, crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. This area boasts almost 300 days of sunshine a year with temperatures from the mid 30's in summer to a mild 15 degrees in the winter, making this a wonderful place for year round holidays.

It is no surprise then that water sports feature prominently in activities in this area, including sailing, diving, water skiing and wind-surfing.

Renowned for traditional fishing villages whitewashed homes and sandy beaches this is a delightful area to lose a few days exploring.

Gulluk

Bodrum is approximately 30 minutes drive from the apartment, much of the way running along the picturesque coastline. As you enter the town, the impressive St. Peters Castle dominates the waterside area and modern marina. Boats to the nearby islands of Kos and Rhodes run from Bodrum port. Designer shops will meet the need for retail therapy, bars and restaurants to refresh the inner man while traditional bazaars and antiquities provide a link to the history of this fascinating area.

Güllük is a traditional Turkish village surrounded by pine topped hills with olive, fig and citrus trees and is built around its harbour, where the fishing fleet still lands its catch daily. It offers a good range of waterside restaurants and bars, beach clubs, modern supermarkets and banking facilities, whilst retaining its small town charms. The local people are warm, friendly and welcoming and English is widely spoken.

"Beautiful modern light and airy apartment, 3 balconies, stunning views, helpful owner."

The apartment is just outside Gulluck, the town is very unspoilt and authentic with a very 'local' feel. It's not a place for designer shops, but if you like the idea of welcoming locals, nice waterfront restaurants, lovely food, pretty harbour, very reasonable prices, very cheap taxis, stunning scenery, amazing market, very safe feeling .... then you will love it.

The apartment is really beautiful, tastefully furnished, very light and airy, and very spacious indeed. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 balconies, air conditioned. The complex is very attractive, overlooking the sea with beautiful views. The pool is very large, and crystal clear and clean. Everything is very well maintained. We appreciated having supplies provided, toilet roll, washing up liquid etc .. you just replace what you use.

Whilst you can walk into Gulluck, we chose to ring for a taxi, and get a taxi back, it was about £3 a trip which we felt was well worth it, especially considering how reasonable the rental and flight costs were. The taxi driver became like our personal driver, always pleased to call for us, and would never take a penny extra.

There is a small shop 5 mins walk away for bread and essentials, or you can visit the main supermarket in Gulluck which is very well stocked. The cheese and herb pastries are delicious. With such cheap taxis, its no problem bringing shopping back.

We enjoyed a fab day out on one of the boat trips, the people are very welcoming and proud of their boat, everything was so clean and well organised, and they provided a great BBQ lunch, very hygienically prepared. For £10 each it was amazing value and a great way to see the coastline.

There are some nice restaurants around the waterfront in Gulluck, serving really nice food, its a lovely way to spend the evening. Everything is very unspoilt and characterful, we even witnessed a local wedding celebration party which took over the whole town centre and seemed to involve everyone!

The Med Inn, in the opposite direction, is a boutique hotel with very upmarket ambiance, outside bar and lunch terrace, sun loungers with lovely squidgy mattresses and hotel towels. They let you use all the facilities as long as you spend a certain amount on food and drink during your visit - this varies according to season but was about £17 each in August and bought is a first class lunch and several rounds of lovely drinks. We went there twice, enjoying being brought lovely drinks by waiters! We then caught the 'dolmus' bus back to the apartment at the end of the day.

Other days we spent by the lovely pool, where there are loads of sun beds and parasols, and a beautiful view of the sea.

Paul was very helpful from the initial enquiry call, right through to our return. Very trustworthy and honest, and answering my many questions patiently. Our deposit was promptly repaid the day after we got home.

Thank you for a lovely holiday.

"Excellent Family Holiday Location"

Great well equipped clean apartment for our family holiday and 2 bathrooms welcome with kids of 19, 17 & 15. Excellent large pool and sunbed area. Very convenient location for Bodrum Airport.

We hired a car for the 2 weeks we were there and found that a necessity although taxis are cheap and plentiful. One small shop nearby with limited selection and nearest supermarket is in Gulluck which is 20 mins walk. Bodrum is a 40 minute drive and Milas about the same. The nearest beach is a short walk, but much better beach near the Med-Inn Hotel which is 20 mins walk.

Plenty of good bars, restaurants and cafes in Gulluck. Taxi back cost 10 Turkish Lira.

Good boat trips also from Gulluck and decent market once a week.

"Awesome Holiday"

Beach Residence was exactly what we were looking for. The pool was perfect (except that it closed at 7 pm) and the space was perfect for us (we were two couples). Everything was clean and well maintained. My only disappointment was the limited implements to cook with; I tend to do a lot of cooking!

"A peaceful & relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings"

We stayed in Paul's garden apartment and it was very clean, well equipped, spacious, bright & airy, No waiting for the bathroom either as we had one each! The pool was kept immaculately clean, and there were no issues over sun loungers! As the apartment overlooks the pool it was also easily accessible down one flight of stairs. There is a small supermarket selling essentials within a 5-10 minute walk, but we didn't find any bars close by. However I understand there is one due to open after re-furbishment. We walked into Gulluk for the evening and it took us 20-30 mins, it is a lovely walk along the coastal road with fabulous views, especially the sunsets. We usually returned by taxi for 10 Turkish Lira. It has been a pleasure dealing with Paul; booking was very straightforward and he has always been very prompt and helpful in answering queries, and returning our deposit etc. We would be very happy to return. Thanks Paul!

"Beach Residence"

We had a great stay at this appartment, which has 2 bedrooms and most importantly if you have 2 teenage daughters, 2 bathrooms. There is a clean beach within a few minutes walk, or a very nice unheated pool just a few yards from your front door. Although we didn't use them there are air conditioners in each room. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the surrounding garden area well kept.

"Relaxing location, great apartment"

Stayed here with family including teenagers in May. Paul's information sent before the trip was excellent and he arranged for Hilmi to collect us from the airport - excellent service from such a helpful man, who was available during our stay if we needed anything else.
The apartment was clean and well equipped with everything we required. Wi Fi set up easy and essential for the teenagers, pool was beautiful and complex well maintained. We also used the 2nd pool in another part of this small complex as it was always empty - Lovely to have the choice. This was half term / bank holiday week in UK and the area was not busy at all - never more than 15 people at the pool so very relaxing.
Gulluk is a small town about 20 minute walk from the apartment to the local shops / bars etc and we ate out each night, simple good quality food and good prices. Got a taxi back each night -helpful taxi drivers too.
We got the mini-bus service to Bodrum on Tuesday to go to the market as recommended by another reviewer - well worth it for the 'genuine designer fakes' clothing and bags.
Overall we had a great relaxing holiday here in the sunshine, lovely to laze around the pool and have such a lovely apartment to stay in. I would recommend this apartment highly for the quality and also the excellent reassuring service from Paul and Hilmi.

"Fantastic fully equiped apartment with a A1 view in a A1 location."

Great apartment clean and fully equiped in a excellent complex. The view from the apartment was second to none and the pool was fantastic. The apartment is about a 15 to 20 min walk from the main town of Gulluk however there was a very reliable and cheap dolmus (1.25 lire) per person into Gulluk the taxi's were 10 lire and we are a family of 5 and they didn't have any problems with us all getting in (unlike in spain the last few years!!) . Where you get off the bus you can get onto another bus into Bodrum for 7 lire per person which we did on market day (Tuesday) and this is defiantly worth doing especially if you have teenagers (Jack Will/hollister hoodies, Vans, converse trainers etc at bargain prices haggling a must!!) however after all the hustle bustle and hassle of Bodrum we couldn't wait to get back to Gulluk and our apartment. Paul the owner was brill, he always answered emails quickly and answered any questions, he also organised our tranfers and his representitive Hilim was very nice, informative and punctual. All in all we can't wait for next year as we will defianlty be going back.

"Excellent all round - wonderful holiday"

The whole experience has been excellent all round. We travelled out to Pauls appartment in early August with 3 young children.Paul kept us well infomed through the booking process. The main centre of Gulluk is walkable (not with kids though)but there is a pretty regular Dolimus service that runs past the appartments for 1.5TL. The whole complex is relaxed with a nice family friendly atmosphere. ( We met some really nice people)There is a nice variety of restaurants and shops within Gulluk and a handy corner shop 5 mins walk from the appartment. We didn't go to the beach as the pool was so nice but it is a typical turkish beach (don't expect miles of white sand!) Really good value all round. I can't really fault anything, think we will be back next year
