Hamilton Cottage GULLANE

This family-friendly, semi detached cottage is in a secluded part of Gullane. It is opposite the village`s tennis courts and five minutes walk from three of the town`s five golf courses. A short stroll takes you to The Old Clubhouse pub which has a friendly atmosphere and good food menu. The town`s shops are also close by, including the German Falko Bakery, perfect for a late lazy breakfast. Gullane also boasts the award winning La Potinière restaurant, just round the corner from the cottage.

The house will sleep up to eight and is spacious with a sunny kitchen/dinning room and light, airy main bedrooms. There are two modern bathrooms, one with a walk in shower, a separate WC and a utility room. The cosy sitting room with log fire is perfect for quiet evenings in. Recently renovated to a high standard, the present owners have turned it into an extremely comfortable family holiday home. There is a large south-facing back garden with an area of decking for table, chairs and parasol. The garden is secure from the front area and with plenty of space for kids to run around. There is plenty of off street parking (room for three cars).

Gullane enjoys excellent facilities. As well as the three public golf courses, it is home to Muirfield, considered by many to be the best in the UK, as well as championship standard Luffness. The cottage is two minutes walk from the village`s gym and bowling green. Gullane Beach is a fine stretch of wide sand, with good swimming and kite-surfing and is perfect for the little ones. Further afield, there are half a dozen excellent beaches within half an hour`s drive, not to mention stunning Aberlady Bay for the birdwatchers. There are wonderful coastal walks. The Lammermuir Hills, less than an hour away, are great for hill walking and mountain biking.

Whether you`re booking your family holiday, keen to get out on the links, or looking for a quiet break near some of the best beaches Scotland has to offer, you could do a lot worse than considering a stay at 1 Hamilton Road, Gullane.

Edinburgh is 30 minutes by train or an easy 35 minute drive.

The cottage has a large enclosed garden with decking area and there is off street parking in the drive.

The Lothians region

East Lothian is reputedly the driest, sunniest part of the U.K. and the many sandy beaches and rocky coves provide a wonderful natural playground for children and adults alike. Little wonder that visitors are attracted to this charming, coastal holiday resort with its pleasant situation and scenery, yet just half an hour by car or train from Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh.

North Berwick itself offers a good variety of shops, bistros, coffee bars & restaurants. There are many interesting walks around the town, including North Berwick Law, a small hill, 612ft. high, with magnificent views over East Lothian, the Firth of Forth, Fife and beyond.

Gullane

Its not at all hard to be confused by local residents when staying Gullane. You hear it called "Gillane" and Gullane and whatever suits your tastes, works. Many say they have never seen a seagill but as we all know you dont have to travel far in this country to hear completely different pronouciations of the same words.

Whichever way you say it, it never quite captures the feel of this idyllic village nestling against its wonderful bents, golf courses, Goose Green and outstanding beach.

Whether you are a walker - the John Muir trail passes your door step and leads you on a wondrous walk along the magnificent coastline especially east towards North Berwick - a golfer - 5 outstanding links a short walk away including what many say is the best links of them all - the incomparable Muirfield - or a lover of wonderful beachs - Gullane has it all and more.

Often overlooked by many wanting to be in North Berwick, they dont know what they are missing! It is a great destination for families and golfers alike. Sitting in the afternoon sun outside the Old Clubhouse Hotel enjoying a quiet sip whilst watching the kids play on the children's golf course right in front of you is a perfect holiday passtime!

There are excellent local shops, a good selection of hotels such as the Old Clubhouse who provide great food and ambience. La Potiniere restaurant is very special and you must book if you would like to enjoy top qualitly french cuisine. We recommend it!!
