Home description

Kerdaniel gites are in a quiet rural location just two kilometres from the village of Guisseny and the beach. The English owner lives in the farmhouse next door.
Each of the gites has its own individual style but all have been furnished and equipped with great care and attention to provide all you could need for an enjoyable holiday.
The gites are 95m2 - 112m2 and sleep 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The comfortable, open-plan sitting room has a fireplace with a wood burning stove (to be installed during autumn 2008) and central heating making them suitable for both summer and winter breaks. There is a sofa and easy chairs, a coffee table and a television (terrestrial stations only), a radio, a CD player and a DVD player, complete with a wide selection of films for you to watch during your stay. There are also books and games, which you are welcome to use. The adjoining area has a dining table and chairs for 6 people. The well-equipped kitchen area has all mod-cons, featuring an oven with grill and hob, a microwave, a fridge, a dishwasher and washing machine. Additional items include a kettle, toaster and electric coffee maker. There is an iron and ironing board too.

Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room each with a hanging space and bedside tables. There is a bathroom with a good shower and a separate W.C. Each of the gites has its own small terrace with garden furniture, which is fenced off to the side from the adjoining gites giving some privacy. To the front of the gites is a communal patio area and grassed garden. Barbeques and picnic tables complete a convivial space to meet your neighbours and for the children to play together.

The Brittany / Finistere region

North west Brittany is rugged and breathtaking, possibly the best place on earth to sample fresh, locally landed seafood. The region is positively steeped in tradition and you are almost bound to come upon a Breton festival will its trade-mark Celtic music, dancing and traditional costumes.
Magnificent beaches abound interspersed by fashionalble resorts and quaint fishing villages. Light houses and offshore islands punctuate the seascape providing homes for thousands of bird species.

Brest has a wide range of tourist attractions from Oceanopolis, reputedly Europe’s most impressive aquarium, to a fine arts museum and the Maritime Museum with guided visits of the naval base.

Guisseny area

A short 2km drive or cycle ride will take you to a lovely sandy beach. There are many good footpaths and bridle paths making this a good way to explore the area. The local tourist office is very active and enthusiastic, organising many events. A favourite amongst previous visitors has been the ‘twilight walk’ which is rather like a walking treasure hunt with a guide dressed in traditional Breton costume. Guisseny is a typical Breton village with attractive stone buildings and a good range of amenities including a boulangerie, a small 8-8 grocery store, a bicycle hire shop, banks and several bars. It is just 5 minutes drive to Plougerneau where there is an Intemarche supermarket and 10 minutes drive to Leznevin where you will find large Casino and Leclerc supermarkets.
There a re are wide range of activities available in the vicinity which include: cycling, swimming, fishing, tennis, sailing, horse riding, golf, walking, spa/health resort

How to get there

The gite is just 40km or 35 minutes drive from Roscoff, where there is a regular Brittany Ferries service to Plymouth.
Alternatively, if you prefer to fly, Brest Airport is only 34 km or 25 minutes drive away with many of the major car hire companies available there. Flights with Flybe operate from Birmingham, Exeter, Manchester and Southampton to Brest, whilst Ryanair operate Luton to Brest.
You can take the TGV train and with the new link to St Pancras it takes around 8 hours to Brest. You can hire a car from the station and we would strongly reccommend that you do so if you opt for the train.

Bed linen is included in the rental price but towels are not so you will need to bring your own. Alternatively towel kits can be hired for a supplement.

At the top of a small banking (across the entrance driveway) is a children's swing.

There is ample off-road parking space.

There is a small number of chairs, toys and buckets and spades which can be used in the garden or on the beach (on first come first served basis). Guests are requested to replace any items which are lost or broken whilst they are using them.

A non-refundable fee of 49 euros is payable at the time of booking along with a deposit of 25%.
Free booking fee for every 2 consecutive weeks booking in 2008.
The rental price includes the rental of the gite and bed linen. If you are staying for 2 weeks, the bed linen will be changed after 1 week.
A towel kit consisting of one hand towel and 1 bath sheet can be provided on request for 7 euros per person per week. Beach towels can be provided at a cost of 5 euros per person. Kitchen towels are provided free of charge. Please request towels and bed linen at the time of booking to ensure availability.

Electricity is charged extra on a meter reading. Cooking gas is provided free of charge.

Where there is a log burner in the living room, a small supply of fuel is provided for the first day or two. Thereafter fuel can be puchased from one of several local suppliers. Cleaning equipment is provided on request.

There is a mandatory maximum end of stay cleaning charge of 100 euros which may be reduced to 20 euros depending upon the state of cleanliness of the gite when you leave the property.

A security deposit of 500 euros is payable on arrival. This is refundable within 48 hours of completeion of the letting minus any charges applicable to the rental. Any damages or breakages occurring at or in the property are the responsibility of the renter. The cost of such repairs is in no way limited to the value of the damage deposit but is the real cost incurred to make good the damage/breakages including any consequential losses.

Conditions

Arrivals are on Saturday from 14h and departures are on Saturday before 10h. Rental periods are normally in 7 day blocks different lengths of stays may be possible in low season.
