Gite | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Set in its own valley and just 10 minutes walk from the bustling town of Callac, Kernormand holiday cottage benefits from the tranquility of the countryside but still has the conveniences of the town. If you love animals and the countryside you'll love Kernormand. We have more than 30 horses, some big ones but the others are rare breed Falabellas. We have the friendliest goats, rare breed curly haired pigs (not for eating!), chickens, geese, cats and dogs too.
The feel of this ancient stone building has been retained, whilst creating a superbly modern interior with fully insulated and boarded walls and ceilings. The spacious rooms with velux windows are light, airy and instantly relaxing.

A private above ground splash pool is provided from June onwards (15ft round x 3ft 6" deep) together with a 10 ft trampoline with a safety cage.
Barbecue equipment with a table and chairs is also in situ for those relaxing evenings.
The gite is set in a large open garden, divided from the main house by living willow hurdles.
Chickens, cats and dogs do have access to this area but tend to keep their distance unless encouraged! The views from the gite and garden are wonderful as the house is set in a valley and many of our miniature Falabella horses are visible from the garden.
The pool is available for use from the beginning of June only and is above the ground so is very safe if you have todlers in your family.
Children love the Gite because they are right in the centre of the farm with all the animals around them. They especially love to make friends with Buffy the very large poodle, and her son Eddy. Rocky the terrier is a real mischief maker and is always there to cause trouble and provide hours of entertainment.
On arrival all spring and summer guests receive a large welcome pack with all they should need for the first night and for morning breakfast - so please state if you are vegetarian! - This pack does include wine and fruit juice, tea, coffee, milk, bread, cereal and veg from our kitchen garden, as well as much more!
The Brittany region
Callac is a small market town in the centre of Brittany. It is walking distance from our house and gite - between 10 and 15 minutes..
The town itself has been here since the 12th century when it grew up at the base of a large castle. The castle was besieged several times and finally raised to the ground in the 17th century. Most of the stone from the castle was apparently gleaned by the locals and recycled into many properties around here!
The town has everything you could wish for, restaurants, bars, hairdressers, a butcher and bakers, a selection of useful shops, and two supermarkets. On top of this there is a bustling market every Wednesday throughout the year.
Callac also boasts a Bretton spaniel museum as this is where the breed originated, and a large statue of a famous Bretton horse -
Brittany itself is blessed with more walks than any other region I'm told and being in the middle, Callac is ideally placed for both walking and cycling holidays.
There are always interesting things happening close by. These range from country markets to horse fairs, racing, or organised walks, golf, swiming, walking, cycling and fishing.
Horse riding etc nearby. Kite flying, pony walking, feeding the animals for children are all available on-site and the town of Callac (which has 2 supermarkets and bars and restaurants is a 10 min walk from the gite
