About the home

A great deal of care and effort has gone into this cottage to provide a spacious and comfortable holiday home. Owned by a London interior designer, the ambience is one of light and comfort whilst retaining the best of the original features.

The facilities include a ground floor cloakroom as well as an ensuite toilet. The bath is in the bedroom with its original beams and painted floorboards creating a luxurious open space. The bed is dressed with white cotton bed linen and feather pillows.

Seagrass matting and leather sofas provide style and comfort in the sitting room with a large window seat with views down to the chateau.

Stable doors lead into the kitchen with its original beams and electric hob and oven.

Wi-fi internet access and English TV.

The Brittany / Morbihan region

Morbihan gets its name from the gulf of Morbihan with all its small islands. The climate here is warmer than the rest of Brittany being the southern most part.

There are hundreds of creeks and harbours to visit and of course the capital Vannes, a beautiful walled city with colourful half-timbered buildings and al fresco cafes and restaurants. Carnac with its 3,000 standing stones is also worth a visit.

The Guemene sur Scorff area

Guemene sur Scorff is only 20 minutes from Lac de Guerledan perfect for messing about on the water or following walking or cycling trails. Don't miss the Abbaye de Bon Repos and Les Forges des Salles and in mid-August the Fete du Lac takes place.

Here in Guemene we have the Fete de l'Andouille at the end of August when the whole town is filled with breton music and dancing late into the night. And on 28th May 2012 we have the carnival and then the grand brocante all through the streets of Guemene on 1st August.

“A lovely house in a lovely location.” We loved 9 rue de Palais and Guemene sur Scorff from the moment that we arrived and were warmly welcomed by Mari. It was good to be in the centre of a town rather than on the outskirts as we have been so often in the past. Guemene is a lovely, quiet and friendly town with no shortage of places to eat and drink. There is also a large supermarket just 5 minutes walk away. 9 rue de Palais is a delightful, beautifully decorated house and has everything which you might need during your stay. On stepping out of the door you can turn left or right and be at an excellent, reasonably priced restaurant/cafe within 2 minutes. We went out most days and our visits included Vannes, Quimper, Pontivy and Concarneau as well as many smaller coastal villages - one of these, Pont-Aven is a real gem. We also spent hours walking around and exploring Guemene sur Scorff. We had a wonderful week and thank Mari for her help and friendliness during our stay. We shall be returning next year. “Luxurious and convenient - great holiday accommodation” We were met with a warm welcome by the owner who showed us around. It was immediately obvious that everything you need was available and was in pristine condition. Great location, close to several restaurants and creperies. Local english run french bar offers very friendly evening out (and food). Shops within walking distance. Great location as central to many great tourist destinations in Brittany (and beyond). The accommodation is over three floors and each floor has been finished to a very high standard. Great view of the village main street from the lounge. Highly recommended.
