The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Welcome to the land of Valencia, where orange and lemon groves bask under the sun on fertile plains running down to the Mediterranean Sea. Guardamar started life as a tiny fishing village at the mouth of the river Segura and has grown into a pretty little town catering for the needs of the holidaymaker. The name Costa Blanca (White Coast) comes from the colour of the sand and stretches for miles. You can choose between those thronging with local holidaymakers and those that are quite deserted. In August the Madrilènes (residents of Madrid) expand the population making the whole town buzz with holiday fever. In Spain every day is a holiday with a colourful local fiesta being celebrated. Valencia is no exception!
Guardamar del Segura / Quesada, Alicante area
Ciudad Quesada has a range of restaurants including traditional Spanish, Chinese, Hungarian and Indian. There are supermarkets, banks, a petrol station and even a water park.
La Marquesa Golf and Country Club has an 18-hole golf course. There is also a practice range and a practice putting green. There are alternative golf courses at Campomar, Villamartin and Las Ramblas.
Rojales is the nearest town to Quesada. It is very Spanish with a range of shops including a chemist, a post office and an indoor market. On Thursdays there is an outdoor market. Guardamar is the coastal town. It has a blue flag sandy beach, lots of restaurants, a marina, a park, a castle, a tourist information office and a large outdoor market on Wednesdays. Torrevieja is a large seaside resort with beaches, a marina, restaurants, funfair and an evening market on the front. There is a large hypermarket on the edge of town, Carrefour. Alicante is a beautiful city with many attractions, including a magnificent castle, beaches, yachting marina and its own historic bullring.
How to get there
Fly to Alicante or Murcia, pick up a hire car and within 30 minutes you are in your splendid holiday villa. Most Budget airlines fly these routes from UK airports. There is a fast train sevice to Alicante from Valencia.
