The Valenciana region
This popular town is renowned for its many kilometres of fine sandy beaches. It has a busy high street full of all kinds of shops as well as a busy market to keep even the most dedicated shoppers happy.
You can explore the man-made dunes (created to stop the town from becoming buried in the sand) of the Alfonso Park or picnic under the pines. The Reina Sofia Park is a great place for the children with its floodlit play area and the nearby children's funfair and night market (both summer only) make for a good evening out. Don't forget to stop at the marina or visit the tourist office to find out more about Guardamar and to book yourself on the tourist train.

Ideas of things to do in Guardamar del Segura
O. Have a relaxing day at the beach, enjoy an evening picnic in the sand dunes at the north beach and then a fun filled night at the night market and children's funfair.
O. Visit the market on a Wednesday morning and discover the centre of the town with its beautiful church and impressive town hall, then drive to the marina to admire the boats and stroll out to sea along the marina promenade.
O. Park at the marina and walk along the beach past the sand dunes and the beach houses to Guardamar and then back through the palms, aloe vera and eucalyptus of the Alfonso Park.
Ideas of places to twin Guardamar del Segura with day or night:
O. Spend the morning in the hustle and bustle of the market in Guardamar, then visit the natural park at La Mata for a bit of peace and tranquillity.
O. Have a relaxing day in the sun on the beach and an afternoon out of the sun bowling at the Ozone or shopping in the Habaneras in Torrevieja.
O. Park at the south end of Guardamar and walk along the beach to La Mata for a spot of lunch (you'll pass some restaurants as you enter La Mata but you'll find more past the watch tower and if you continue onto the wooden promenade) then amble back slowly.
