El Castell de Guadalest, known usually as Guadalest, is a small town in Valencia, in a mountainous part of the comarca of Marina Baixa, in the province of Alicante, Spain. Guadalest covers an area of 16 sq km, and has a population of around 200 inhabitants. Guadalest is approximately 25 kilometres inland from Benidorm along CV-70 road.
El Castell de Guadalest was built during the Moors occupation of Spain in the 12th century. After the Christian re conquest in the 13th century Guadalest still had a very large muslim population and continued thus under the dominion of different Catalan-Aragonese noblemen.
The Costa Blanca is Spain's 'White Coast' and offers theme parks, safari parks, nature reserves, caves, waterfalls, markets, watersports and over 15 golf courses, most of these are within an hours drive. 4 miles of sandy beaches can be found 30 minutes away in Benidorm, along with plenty of entertainment!
