Home description

The property is located 2 minutes walk from the main cable car to the Grimentz ski area. The village centre, supermarkets and restaurants are also within a 2 minute walk. The apartment is housed within a traditional wooden chalet with underground car parking and beautiful views across the valley.

The Val D'Anniviers is a stunning valley offering 220km of skiing on all aspects of the compass and for all abilities. All the areas are accessible by the ski bus. St Luc is south facing with views to the Matterhorn and Dent Blanche. Zinal provides steeper terrain and is the closest area to Grimentz, indeed you can ski back from Zinal to Grimentz.

St Jean and Vercorin are also great for a days skiing, tree skiing in Vercorin is a particular highlight. Grimentz is a lovely, accessible ski area with a good variety of slopes. High speed chairlifts feed directly from the cable car. There is also some of Europe's best off-piste skiing to be had in the Val D'Anniviers.

The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

Set in the picturesque mountain valley in the French speaking part of the Swiss Alps, the characteristic villages of the Val d’Anniviers have a vast array of amenities. Not only is the valley home to a fantastic range of ski resorts and pistes, the charming communities within the valley provide a great choice of cafes, restaurants, shops and banks, making the area the perfect option for holiday makers looking for the archetypal Swiss retreat.

Situated in canton Valais, the sunniest canton in Switzerland, are many delightful villages featuring narrow streets and pedestrian centres, all stunningly picturesque year round. Val d’Anniviers is not only the perfect place for mountain and sports lovers, but also to families who will appreciate the appeal of the charming communities dotted amongst this beautiful landscape.


Grimentz area

The Val D'Anniviers has a huge array of local attractions and specific areas of interest. It is central to the infamous Haute Route, and in the summer and winter many mountain huts and cabannes can be reached as an overnight stay or as part of a longer trip. The Moiry Dam is a fabulous glacier dam that provides commanding views over the 4,000m peaks and the valley below. Festivals are abundant in the summer and the picture postcard village is at is most beautiful with the geraniums and beautiful alpine pastures. Every Friday there is a local village gathering and the main festivals centre on celebrating the famous cows in the valley. Every August Grimentz is the finishing point for the most famous Mountain Bike ride "Le Grand Raid Cristalp", running from Verbier to Grimentz.

The Bendolla reataurant and viewing platform are a superb place to enjoy the lunchtime sun. The beginner area is closely located to the top of the cable car. The skiing goes up to 2,900m at the Bec des Boissons and Roc D'Orzival. The other ski regions within the Val D'Anniviers, St Luc, Zinal, Vercorin and St Jean are within a short drive by car or free ski bus. Zinal is the next door ski field to Grimentz and it is possible to ski from Zinal back to Grimentz. The area is renowned for superb off-piste and guides are recommended. Local banks, ski schools, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and an ice rink / tennis courts are within 5 minutes walk of the apartment.

Geneva is 2 hours drive away. Sierre is located at the base of the Valley floor and is easily accessible by train from Geneva or Zurich. Sierre - 30 minutes. Crans-Montana 50 mins. Sion 45 minutes. All the villages within the Val D'Anniviers are within 30 minutes drive.

The second bedroom has 2 locally crafted single beds and separate standing wardrobe.The main family bathroom has toilet, basin and good size family bath with shower. Separate WC in the front entrance corridor.

Open plan kitchen, with original granite work surfaces and Alpine wood finish. The kitchen has all the utensils you would require, fridge and freezer, oven, 4 hobs, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker.

Plasma screen TV and DVD player. The DVD player also plays CDs. The TV has 35 local and international channels. 2 sofas comfortably seating 4 people. The dining table sits between the kitchen and the living room in an open plan format.

Further details outdoors:
Large balcony accessed from the living room with outside furniture and coffee table. Perfect for a summer meal al fresco or for an apres ski drink. The main cable car in Grimentz is 2 minutes walk away accessing a full range of ski terrain.
