The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

The south west of France is an area of great beauty and interest. The Gironde includes the great wine growing regions of Bordeaux and Duras. There is lots of history in the area, with many links to British history.
We are situated inland but there are several rivers and lakes near to us for water lovers and fishers.
Grignols is on the edge of the vast Landes pine forests. The Atlantic coast is about an hour and half away and is both beautiful and dramatic, it is well worth the trip to visit.
The Grignols area
We are a ten minute walking distance to our well serviced rural village.
There are two small grocery stores, two bakers and pastries shops, Newsagent / tabac, (English papers to order, but a day late). Butcher, Chemist and hairdresser.
There are two bars in the village and a restaurant but this is rural france so dont expect too much as opening times are for the locals.
Cash machine which takes most credit and debit cards.
There is a rugby club and tennis courts in the village near to a privately owned local chateau .
A market in the village is held every Wednesday morning which sells local produce and is a great place to feel part of the real France.
Throughout the summer months there are is always a fete going on nearby and most weekends a vide grenier (car boot sale). We would be happy to keep you informed of any events going on nearby.
