The Tuscany region

From the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, Tuscany is possibly the greatest repository of art in the world, from extraordinary paintings and sculpture to frescoes and architectural masterpieces.

Visitors to Tuscany come for many reasons. Many come in search of fine art, others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple yet wonderful cuisine and wine. Walkers enjoy the mountain paths, cyclists the rolling hills, summer vacationers the sea coast and islands. Students come to learn the beautiful Italian language and culture.

There is a lot to see and do in Tuscany, the difficulty is really where to start. Certainly most should start with Florence, then continue on to Siena and Pisa. The roll call of città di arte, cities of art, is daunting: Arezzo, Cortona, San Gimignano and Lucca are all striking. The more you come to know the region, the more extraordinary Tuscany appears

Greve in Chianti

Greve in Chianti, seat of the Comune di Greve in Chianti, is the market town of the Chianti Classico wine zone of Tuscany, Italy, which consists of a large part of the hilly territory between Florence and Siena.

The most famous festival of Greve in Chianti is “La festa del vino”, the wine festival. It takes place in the first week of September during the harvesting of the grapes. This festival is important for people who lives in Greve because it's the reward for all the hardwork to produce the wine.

The flowers festival takes place in the first week of May and it's really beautiful to see the main square entirely covered by a multicoloured carpet of flowers.

The first Monday after Easter and the first Monday of October a famous antique market is held in townEvery Saturday morning there's the typical market of the town, here you'll find hats, bags and everything to wear. Even the most attractive food, porchetta for instance is a really good gastronomic speciality!

"Wonderfully quiet location in the middle of Tuscany"

We had a wonderful time here. Very cool villa in a very warm climate. Pool cleaned every morning - gorgeous views and ideal location to explore vineyards, Florence, Siena etc.

Bathrooms and units are rather tired and need modernising but otherwise we loved the villa.
