The South East England / Greater London region
London; one of the world’s most important business and cultural centres, with worldwide influence in many spheres. There is a huge amount to see in London, and whether you are looking for a London flat to rent for a weekend break, or for a few weeks. London’s culture is hugely varied with over 300 languages spoken, and the atmosphere changes from street to street.
It is one of the most exciting cities in Europe, with a wealth of history, great art, lots of wonderful parks, some of the best restaurants in the world and an exciting financial centre. As the great Samuel Johnson said "...when a man is tried of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
Big Ben, House of Parliament. TheTower of London, Buckingham Palace. A visit to Madame Tussaude. A shopping trip to Oxford street and Harrods of Knightbridge in the West End of London and the night life of London whether it is business or leisure. This two bedroom apartment provides luxury accommodation in a highly desirable location. Located in one of the most historic parts of London.
Other London attractions such as the Tate Modern, St. Paul’s, Shakespeare’s Globe, Millennium Bridge, HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are all close by.
East London / Island Gardens area
The apartment is situated on the river Thames opposite Historic Greenwich where there are many tourist attractions e.g. Maritime Museum, The Royal Observatory, Royal Naval College Greenwich Park and The Cutty Sark to name but a few. Many pubs and restaurants are within easy reach as well as the markets which sell antiques, second-hand clothes and lots more. There is a river bus which travels along the Thames from Greenwich Pier to the Tower of London and Westminster. 20 minutes from the centre of London via British Rail, 2 trains per hour, or Docklands Light Railway, trains every 5 minutes. Near to London City Airport for European flight connections
Greenwich / West Greenwich area Places to visit include also, the Painted Hall & Chapel of the old Royal Naval College, now Greenwich University. Other historical sites include, the Fan Museum, Rangers House, and St Alfege's Church.
The London Marathon starts in Greenwich. The Tour de France came through Greenwich last year and of course the equestrian events are scheduled to be hosted here for 2012 Olympics . The summer Jazz festival in Greenwich is also great fun.
I recommend Oliver's Jazz bar in Nevada Street, open 7 nights a week all year. Rivington's restaurant & bar open all day, (part of the Caprice & Ivy restaurant group). For homemade ice creams, the lovely Buenos Aires Cafe in Royal Hill.
You can easily walk around the locks to Canary Wharf with its bars, restaurants and designer boutiques.
How to get there
The Apartment is situated in Island Gardens overlooking the river Thames very near Island Gardens DLR (Docklands Light Rail), and Canary wharf underground station on the Jubilee line. London can also easily be reached by train from Paris with the Eurostar.
