The Central England/Cotswolds region

The Cotswolds are in the heart of England. We are in the centre of a triangle made by Oxford and it's historic University, the mighty cathedral of Gloucester and Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon.

There are castles (Sudeley), palaces (Blenheim) and exquisite Cotswold stone villages all around.

The cotswolds region is an area of natural outstanding beauty and contains many lovely small towns and villages.

t is officially designated as the country’s largest ‘areas of outstanding natural beauty’. Famous for its hillsides, river valley’s and Cotswold Stone Villages, the Cotswolds hold a wealth of history, stunning scenery, fine dining and many varieties of activities for all age levels.

Great Rissington

The great houses of Chastleton, Sezincote, Batsford with its arboretum.

The Burford wild life centre.

The honeyed Cotswold towns of Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, the Rissingtons and Barringtons.

Great Rissington dates back to at least 1086, it still has a population of a couple of hundred.

The church is over 900yrs old, the village pub and green are several hundred years old. There are very few modern buildings. It is a sleepy, friendly village that is off the beaten track, some residents have lived here their whole lives. No tourist coaches here, just country life.

"Struck gold!! Fabulous break away!"

The wash house was an absolutely wonderful place to stay, my partner and I stayed for a 3 day mid week break and we're welcomed by Ali and Chris, who were both lovely!
It was picturesque and everything we had hoped for and more. The bed was FANTASTIC, like a big marshmallow, duck feather quilt, didn't want to get out! The breakfast hamper that we received upon arrival was so well thought about it was lovely and very unexpected. Great Rissington is a beautiful village, with great food at the 'Lamb Inn' the local pub, and everything we could have asked for! We have already recommended to everyone we know, and we are looking forward to re visiting later on in the year. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"A little bit of Heaven!"

My partner and I spent a long weekend at The Wash House. The location is absolutely idyllic in a peaceful village (with a lovely pub too!). The cottage was equipped beautifully ~ lovely bed linen, fluffy towels etc and the fittings were top class. We spent an hour each evening watching the bats and stargazing! Lots of places of interest very close by and walks galore! I would recommend The Wash House to everyone who wants to escape everyday life for a quiet break in a beautiful little cottage in a perfect location. We hope very much to return!
