The Central England / Cotswolds / Gloucestershire region
The Cotsowld Hills are famous worldwide as capturing the essence of English country scenes.
Gentle hills and numerous villages, 100s of years old, built of warm stone, with friendly pubs tea rooms and antique shops, capture the atmosphere.
Gentle country walks or strenuous hikes, riding, touring to see the villages and numerous stately homes are all part of the scene.
In summer beautiful rolling fields stretch out, in winter cozy log and cola fires burn everywhere whilst the countryside is wrapped in gentle mist.
The Great Rissington area
Great Rissington dates back to at least 1086, it still has a population of a couple of hundred.
The church is over 900yrs old, the village pub and green are several hundred years old. There are very few modern buildings. It is a sleepy, friendly village that is off the beaten track, some residents have lived here their whole lives. No tourist coaches here, just country life.
Yet just 5 miles away are the famous centres of Stow-on the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford. All postcard-picture villages with fascinating antiques shops and long histories.

Enjoyed a weekend reunion with 4 friends in this very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Plenty of space with the advantage of separate sitting room, dining room and kitchen/dining areas to accommodate a range of activities. Very comfortable bedrooms and 3 shower/bathrooms.

We stayed in this cottage for a long weekend away with friends in the middle of January. The cottage was more spacious than expected and very well equipped. The bedrooms were large and three showers in the property was a real bonus. We cooked a meal on the Friday night and the kitchen was excellently equipped and had everything we needed.
The area itself is fantastic, the village is lovely with a great pub and set within wonderful countryside great for walking. There is lots to do nearby and the Birdland centre in Bourton-pn-the-water is well worth a visit.
This cottage is highly recommended.

6 adults and a baby spent a wonderful week here over Christmas. The bedrooms are a good size, unexpected in such a quaint looking cottage! Excellent area upstairs that can be cut off to include large bedroom, landing area and en suite. Perfect for a couple and baby. The cottage was well equipped and in a lovely location in the village, a minutes walk from the church and two minutes walk from the pub! We drove to visit the Slaughters, Stow on the Wold and some other villages in the area. There are many walks/cycles from the cottage. All the locals we spoke to were lovely. Very relaxing place. Would definately return!
