It is a great location for walking, being on the coastal walking route to the beautiful Bosta beach where you'll find an Iron Age house. The old byre, by the house, offers storage facilities for kayaks, and the cottages location by the sea means that kayaks can be launched from the 12 acre croft to explore the area around Loch Roag.
Inside the holiday cottage, the cosy lounge has a lovely cottagey feel enhanced by high ceilings, deep window ledges and a feature alcove where you'll find lots of local interest books and maps. Resting on a slate hearth is a multi-fuel stove since no cottage is complete without dancing flames! No expense has been spared to provide top quality furniture including Jane Churchill and Laura Ashley fabrics and solid oak furniture throughout.
The kitchen is a lovely bright room which is bathed in sunlight all afternoon and evening thanks to 3 windows on 2 walls. We have maintained the cottage feel by fitting cream shaker style kitchen units under an oak effect worktop. Leading from the kitchen is a porch where outdoor clothes can be stored.
2 sunny bedrooms ensure that you are well rested to make the most of your holiday. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, built in wardrobe and ensuite shower room whilst the twin room has versatile zip and link beds which convert from 2 singles to a large king size bed.
The large family sized bathroom has a free-standing shower cubicle, with powerful thermostatic shower as well as a bath, washhand basin and toilet. You'll find an electric shaver point here too.
For those who want to keep in touch with friends and family, we provide WiFi free of charge and our collection of books, maps and DVDs ensure that you will make the most of your time here. This property has 1 King(s), 1 Twin(s).

About this location
The Hebrides region
Both properties are a forty minute drive from Stornoway and are ideally placed to explore the scenic and historical district of Uig and the major archaeological sites of the westside of Lewis including the world famous Standing Stones at Callanish, the Doune Carloway Iron Age Broch and the Lewis Blackhouses at Gearrannan and Arnol.
After you have explored the many attractions of Lewis and Harris, your accommodation offers the ideal place to relax in front of the open fire or witness the awe-inspiring sight of a Hebridean sunset over the Kyles of Valasay.
Plenty to see & do…
Whether you are looking for a peaceful getaway or an adventure holiday the Outer Hebrides has something to suit all tastes!
Great Bernera is a very scenic island and the perfect location to indulge yourself in walking, fishing or birdwatching. At the north of the island there are the beautiful Bostadh Sands, where in 1996 archaeological excavations revealed the site of an Iron Age settlement.
Although the site has now almost been reclaimed by the sands, there is a nearby reconstruction where visitors can receive live interepretation by a member of our local historical society during the summer months.
Many of our guests are keen walkers and the Uig and Bernera District offer a variety of walking routes at all levels, including the coastal walk to Bosta which passes the house. Elsewhere in Bernera, other walks you can enjoy are to a Norse Mill or to an iron age Broch at Loch Baravat. For the more energetic, sea-kayaking can be enjoyed from the shore at the bottom of the drive, giving access over to Uig and the beautiful islands in between.
