"Noisy location, beautiful apartment"

Perfect for a 20s and 30s city break, located in a vibrant and busy entertainment section of the city. Beautifully kitted out apartment with wifi and flat screen, two comfortable double beds with optional futon. Bath/electric shower.

Not recommended for elderly or those with small children esp with buggies etc.

Positive;

Landlord was very helpful and communicated well to ensure we were all good to go before arrival. Very pleasant to deal with.

Beautifully maintained apartment in a very central location with views of the castle from the bedroom windows.

On arrival there was tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a selection of biscuits waiting for us, most welcome after the flight and travel from the airport.

The apartment was immaculate, with crisp bedding and ample towels, a fully stocked cupboard of cleaning products including for the washer/dryer. Lots of crockery etc for cooking.

Negative:
However, steep stairs may be difficult for elderly guests, and it's location next to a kebab shop and across from a busy bar means a lot of noise late at night, so not advisable for very light sleepers or those with very small children.

There was an exceptionally bad smell in the stairwell of the building from another apartment, presumably of rubbish, which only increased during our stay.

I will stress that this neither came from the apartment or ever entered the apartment, but was present in the stairwell and emanated from another apartment.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review our apartment positively. Our aim is to give you a home from home experience in Edinburgh and make your stay as pleasant as possible and from what you say in your review we believe that this is what you experienced.
One of the main advantages of the apartment is its central location in the city centre and the convenience of being able to walk to bars and restaurants and along with this comes some noise from the entertainment in town. The secondary glazing on the windows reduce this, but we understaand that with warm weather it may be necessary to keep windows open. For next season, we will provide fans in the bedrooms which will allow the windows to be closed if guests find it too noisy.

After you left, we were made aware of the bad smell in the staircase which we reported immediately and it was dealt with. We can only apologise for any inconvenience which it caused you, but we could not do anything about it as we were unaware until after you left. We believe this problem is unlikely to happen again, but if it did we would urge our guests to contact us.
The apartment has the added feature of being in a traditional Edinburgh tenement with a traditional staircase. Many guests like to experience these aspects of Edinburgh and there are very few traditional buildings in Edinburgh which will offer a lift/elevator. While the apartment benefits from being on the first floor with one flight of stairs,we appreciate that this may not be suitable for less able people. We will highlight this point by adding a photograph of the staircase which should ensure that any potential guests know what to expect.
Thank you again for taking the time to review the property and helping us to make improvements.
