About this location
The Edinburgh region
Edinburgh and the Lothians need no introduction!
The Grassmarket is an open square in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town and lies just south of Edinburgh Castle, which towers impossingly over it. The small valley in which it lies was formed during the last ice age and the area was used for horse and cattle markets (hence its name) from the 15th century. In former times public hangings were held here including those of the Coventanters in the 17th century and also Maggie Dickson who survived the noose and who has a present day pub named after her. In keeping with this background, the Grassmarket is today the starting point for several ghost, historical and literary tours.
The Grassmarket is now a fashionable part of Edinburgh, with bars, restaurants and diverse shops serving both locals and visitors. The wide pedestrian areas are perfect for strolling around and for al fresco eating and drinking.
The Grassmarket is an easy and scenic walk from all the attractions of central Edinburgh, including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Scottish Parliament, the Royal Mile, Princes Street, Greyfriars Bobby , the National Museum of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland and the National Galleries of Scotland.

"I really liked the flat and the place where it was, I hope to come back here!"
My family and I spent a really beautiful week in this flat. It was comfortable and The castle view from the living room windows is wonderful! At first we had problems with the kitchen only because we weren't used to it but we didn't have any other problem!
The flat is situated in a perfect starting point to visit easily all the most important city areas and at night you can ear the pleasant voices from the pubs.
All around the flat there are a lot of market that close late ( 10/11 p.m. ), so it's easy to do shopping.
