The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region

Grasse is in the South of France, famous for its beaches and sea food. Cannes, Juan les Pins and St Tropez are nearby. You can walk in the mountains and on the long sandy beaches which are only 25 minutes away by car or by train. Grasse is a pretty Medieval town set on a hill, 20 minutes from the beaches. Grasse faces South, so we have constant sunshine, even in the winter. You can eat out of doors in January and February on mild days. Summer months are hot with warm evenings. Grasse has world reknown Perfume Factories such as Fragonard and Galimard and Sweet Factories such as Florian. Lavender fields and olive presses are nearby as are the beautiful Cote de Provence vineyards .

Grasse / Riviera area

Grasse has five challenging golf clubs within 20 minutes, with easy access, no membership required. Clay tennis courts at reasonable rates are a 5 minute drive away. The Sandy beaches in Cannes and Juan Les Pins are nearby. Grasse is close to the jazz festival in Nice in July, pop concerts in August, Midem , The Cannes Film Festival and many other events taking place in Monte Carlo.
Monaco is 50 minutes, for the Monaco Grand Prix. Saint Tropez is 1 hour away and Antibes, Sophia Antipolis and Valbonne are all close by. The weekly markets are held in different villages and provide you with delicious Provencal soaps, lavender, honey, truffles, baskets and olive oil. The Restaurant Bastide St. Antoine in Grasse, is well worth a visit, for its delicious gourmet , 2 starred Michelin , provencal dishes.

Grasse centre is an easy ten minute walk from the house, where fresh bread, good butchers and delicatessens can be found. There is a cinema with English films. Grasse has many lovely small restaurants for those who do not want to cook while on holiday. Grasse is an all year round lively town, very much lived in, with lots of festivals including the Jasmine Festival in July. For hikers there are wonderful walks in the Gorges du Loup and the Gorges de Verdun. The Italian border is 1 hour away by car, 2 hours by direct train from Grasse. Our house is a 5-minute drive from Grasse town centre. Grasse itself is a large town and can be reached by the A8 Motorway from Nice and Cannes. Nice in the South of France is our nearest Airport.

Once in Nice you can hire a car and drive to the house in 35 minutes. Or you can take a train, bus or taxi to Grasse. There are taxis at all termini. British Airways, Easy Jet, BMI, Air France all have regular flights to Nice, from all major cities.

Avis, ADA, Hertz, Budget all have car rentals at Nice Airport. A car is very useful here as there is so much to see!
The flights from London to Nice take about 1 1/2 hours. The airport is not large, so you are out of the airport quickly. Then you drive to the house in about 1/2 an hour.
