The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
The property is about 2.5k from the village centre of Peymeinade which has good local shops including an excellent butcher, a large street market, a couple of restaurants and bars and a really good traiteur selling local Provençal specialities and ready meals. There are two large supermarkets within a few minutes drive. The coast is about 20k with a great choice of beaches at Mandelieu, Cannes and Antibes in one direction, and St Maxime, Les Issambres and Frejus in the other. The Lac de Saint Cassien, about 10k, has beached areas for bathing, and pedalos, sailboards for hire. There are tennis courts 3k and a golf course 7k. The property is very well situated for touring both inland and along the coast: the dramatic scenery of the Verdon gorges is worth a trip, as are the beautiful Iles de Lérins off the coast of Cannes. The picturesque old villages of Cabris, Spéracèdes and Saint Cézaire are within a few minutes drive, all of which have good, inexpensive restaurants. The historic town of Grasse, world famous for its perfume, is 7k, its old quarter is very interesting and full of picturesque winding streets with 17th century buildings and hidden squares with cafés and fountains. Grasse now has an excellent rail connection to the coast; with a large free car park at the station and regular trains to Cannes and along the coast. There are beautiful country walks along marked paths starting in Peymeinade and all around the village of Cabris.
