Try the route up to Easedale Tarn in the fells above the village, visit the shores of nearby Rydal Water, or take on Fairfield, Silver How or Loughrigg to name but a few! The Langdale Pikes are accessible from the Langdale Valley, only a short drive away, and up the road at Thirlmere you'll find the start point for an ascent of Helvellyn.
Grasmere itself is well-served for self-catering in the Lake District, with lovely local shops and a vibrant market square. Drive a few miles to Ambleside along the A591, and you'll find a more cosmopolitan village centre with sophisticated shops, delis and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as The Glass House.
