With it's many eateries and traditional pubs and shops, the village is historical and athmospheric with many activities revolving around the Priory, the famous race course and with the wonderful community spirit pervading the traditional pubs you will be made welcome wherever you go.
The Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding Shop and the Michelin starred L'Enclume restaurant are only a stroll away. Perfectly situated for walks and close to Grange over Sands, Cartmel only a few miles from Lake Windermere. With many places of interest nearby including the Haverthwaite Steam Railway historical Holker Hall the seat of Lord Cavendish and his family and the site of the Chealsea of the North Holker Garden Festival a very short drive away there is never a dull moment and from races to antique fairs, garden fesitivals to musical recitals Cartmel has plenty to offer whatever your age.

The English Lake District with it's lakes and mountains, stunning scenery, wealth of history and huge range of things to do is a must for both the intrepid adventurer and the more relaxed amongst us. The landscape is breathtaking and with the fells and mountains ever changing with the seasons beautiful at any time of the year.
All levels of walkers are spoiled for choice with both extremely tough and gentle options very close by.and many activities such as golf and horse riding, and with Windermere Lake only a few miles away opportunities to sail and fish or take a boat trip. Museums, galleries, visitors centres and antique shops abound throughout the area which has an excellent road system. Lakeside is only a few miles from Cartmel and there is a steam railway and an Aquarium to explore. Holker Hall with it's now famous Garden Festival nick-named the Chelsea of the north draws in the gardeners and Cartmel is even livelier on the several annual race meetings when the village becomes the hub for the racing fraternity. location and convenient location Cartmel is an historical and interesting place to stay for your visit to the lakes, Based around the Priory, the traditional shops and eateries including the Michelin starred L'Enclume offer a romantic and relaxing mix for you to explore: try the Cartmel sticky toffee pudding served in the Royal Oak Inn.....next to the traditional open fire....mmmm. Grange-over-Sands / Cartmel area
The apartment is actually located in Cartmel, two miles from Grnage over Sands and is Cumbria's answer to the Cotswolds with its wealth of inns, eateries and gift shops to enchant and delight the most discerning of tastes. Boasting a traditional market square with it's fish slab and water pump, narrow streets and stream running through the village make Cartmel a true "chocolate box village" Cartmel is most famous for it's Priory which is steeped in history and still houses pews damaged by Cromwell's army! The regular horse race meetings turn Cartmel into a hub of activity several times a year with followers from all over the world. The uniqueness of the village being almost completely pedestrianised makes it a peaceful place to visit and stay. Grange over Sands is only two miles away offering a range of shops and eateries together with beach walks and spectacular views to Morecambe Bay. The train station offers services to and from Manchester airport and into the historical market towns of Ulverston and Kendal.

Further details indoors: Accessed by private stone steps leading only to Hampsfell View, the apartment forms part of the old shop which goes back to the 1600's. Sympathetically renovated in 2007 using only top quality materials by a renowned local builder the property is vaulted with beams giving it a light and airy feel, and centrally heated and double glazed. With a contemporary range of units with modern oven and hob and integrated washing machine, the kitchen is well equipped with microwave, toaster and kettle, a range of pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and glasswear. The lounge area is decorated in soft creams and fawns with comfortable seating and ample dining area. A flat screen TV with built in DVD is situated next to the open fireplace which houses an electric log effect heater as a focal point. Facing southwest the apartment enjoys beautiful views over the houses and to Hampsfell and has a sunny aspect. The bedroom is well furnished with double bed, wardrobe and dresser with window seat, decorated once more in white and cream, the shower room leads from the bedroom and houses a good quality white suite, heated towel rail and spacious shower cubicle.
Further details outdoors: Overlooking the village green and close to the Pig and Whistle Inn the property is in a quiet residential area and the local well stocked Spar shop is only a few steps away. Close to the Priory and overlooking Hampsfell View there is a semi rural feel when in fact you are only 5 minutes from the main square of Cartmel. There is plenty of off street parking very close to the accommodation.
Site of the famous Cartmel Races the village bustles on race weekends. With a plethora of shops and eateries including the home of renowned Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding shop Michelin starred L'Enclume restaurant, and for traditional, hearty and fresh food, try the Royal Oak Inn in the square which has a beautiful sunny beer garden with shady trees and a stream running through it. There are traditional cosy county pubs serving wholesome fresh food and Cartmel Priory is a fascinating and very special place to visit. Cartmel is an ideal base for the lakes and there are many lovely walks around the village. Although beautifully peaceful, the village community bustles with traditional acitivities and is a magical place to stay a few days.

We require a non returnable deposit of 25% of the total booking price 8 weeks before your arrival and full payment must be made one month before to secure the booking. Bookings made within one month of arrival must be paid for in full. A 10% returnable deposit for breakages will be returned to your bank within one week of your vacating the property providing no damage has been incurred. Please report any accidents.
