With a great Lakeland pub in the hamlet and another just up the hill, a wonderful store just across the quiet road and lots of country walks from your doorstep, this is an ideal spot for a country break. Couples will soon realise why this romantic hideaway in the rolling Lakeland countryside won the Enjoy England Gold Award for 2012/13. Set in the quiet hamlet of Bowland Bridge, a few miles from Bowness and Lake Windermere, Yew Tree Cottage offers contemporary comfort inside... and stunning countryside views towards Whitbarrow Scar outside. Wake beneath the impressive leather bedstead of the master bedroom then start a walk in the hills straight from your door. Drop in at any of the many local pubs (Winster and Crosthwaite also nearby) for fantastic Lakeland pub dining, or just grab a bacon butty from the local store then soothe yourself in a warm bath.

The sleepy yet sought-after village of Bowland Bridge provides a wonderfully peaceful alternative to busier Bowness. You'll never be far from Bowness' attractions, handy shops and evening entertainments... but you'll always be able to retreat to your haven away from the rush.
Bowland Bridge is located to the east of Bowness and Lake Windermere, overlooked by Cartmel Fell in the lush, green and rolling Lyth Valley. Peaceful country lanes make for endless gentle strolls or bike rides, and short sharp hikes such as an ascent of Gummers How provide simply breathtaking views down over Lake Windermere. Don't forget, Windermere Golf Club is also only a few miles away. The Lyth Valley is renowned for it's scattering of prestigious country pubs, two of which are within Bowland Bridge. Your enviable 'locals', the Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank and the village's Hare and Hounds are both marked out as among our region's finest eateries.
Those who wish to take to the water during their Lake District holiday can do so from Bowness, so only a short drive away. Hire powered boats or row boats, or park up the car and take a leisurely Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside. The A591 is easily accessible from Bowland Bridge and is the main driven route into the heart of the Lakes... taking you to beautiful places like Keswick, Rydal Water and beyond.

Awesome! Cottage is very cosy and easy to live in, well equipped and great location. We have had a wonderful time here, it has been very relaxing, even though there are beautiful walks that take you hours. We're definitley looking to come back to explore the amazing part of the country some more.

'Our fourth visit to this wonderful place. As usual it has been perfect in every way. A lovely place to stay. Peaceful and so well equipped, a real home from home. We even dragged ourselves to the Hare And Hounds and enjoyed a steak with all the trimmings, well worth a visit if you can bear to leave this lovely cottage - not easy for us. We are already looking forward to our next visit in May - maybe even sooner!!!!!'
